With just five days to go for CAT 2020, aspirants are now entering the last lap of revision. This is the time to go through all topics and keep practicing problems. Candidates should now be going through last minute tips to identify their strengths and weaknesses. “At this juncture, students need to ensure that they are comfortable with all the sections – Verbal Ability (VA) & Logical Reasoning (LR) and Quantitative Ability (QA) & Data Interpretation (DI),” says Reema Sehgal, academics expert.

1.CAT Mock Tests
In the last week, take at least two-three CAT mock tests. Mock drills will help in improvising your exam strategy and strengthen the weaknesses. Remember, practice makes a man perfect. However, don’t attempt mock tests a day or two before the exam, and just revise the basic concepts.

2. Analyse Your Performance
The idea of attempting CAT mock tests is to get a thorough understanding of your performance. Analyse the results of each mock exam you take. Take corrective action to fare well in the exam. You may want to note down the type questions, that you would prefer to steer clear of in CAT 2020 or you may want to re-attempt those questions one more time. This way you can identify your strengths and weaknesses.

By this stage, CAT aspirant know their strong suits and shortcomings. In these last few days before CAT exam, go anaylse your performance in each topic and tie up the loose ends. Try and approach the topics in a systematic manner. Don’t lose heart if you are unable to solve problems correctly. Just focus on the understanding the basic theories well.

4. Speed
Since the time duration of the exam has been reduced by one hour, CAT 2020 is going to be about two important factors: Speed and accuracy. So, in the last five-six days, your focus should be on improving time management skills further. Finishing the paper with some buffer time in hand is crucial. Don’t get stuck on one question. If you are finding it difficult to understand the question or you aren’t sure about it, move on to the next problem immediately.

5. Accuracy
Due to negative marking, selection of questions will play a crucial role in CAT 2020 exam. Candidates need to identify questions that they can attempt correctly and quickly. Try to avoid answering questions about which you are having second thoughts. There is no space for errors in CAT as even a fraction of marks can put your MBA plan into jeopardy.
6. No New Topics
Do not touch any new topic or new subject in the last week of CAT exam. This might end up in more confusion than clarification. Steer clear of preparing for new topics at this stage. Just focus on revision, time management, shortcuts, tricks and mental calculation.
7. Sectional Cut-Offs
Don’t forget, during IIM admission, your sectional scores will be taken into consideration for WAT-PI shortlisting. The minimum qualifying CAT cut off is 85 percentile in top IIMs and 70 percentile in the rest of the IIMs for General category students. So, do not ignore one section for another. Solve each section keeping in mind that you need to attempt 70-75 questions correctly. An overall raw score of 157-160 can fetch 99 percentile for which you need to solve 26-28 questions in VARC, 18-20 in DILR and 24-26 in QA correctly.

Yes. IIMB does require the CAT exam, but the rest of the top B-schools in Bangalore also take in candidates through the state-level CET, ie, the Karnataka PGCET exam, or through MAT or CMAT.

IIM Calcutta has only mentioned accepting GMAT score for admission into EMBA courses.
However, CAT is commonly accepted by other similar institutes for both MBA and MBAEx courses. Thus, candidates are advised to ask admission desk for confirmation on this question.

It is not possible to determine a candidate's admission in IIM Calcutta MBA course through CAT score alone. In Stage 1, a score 85% in CAT will be enough for a general category candidate to be selected for PI+WAT admission stage.
Final admission cutoffs are based on many factors other than CAT score.

No, IIM Calcutta cannot get into MBA courses without appearing CAT first. CAT is a mandatory entrance exam and it is conducted every year for admissions into all MBA courses offered by this institute.
