
IIM Calcutta conducted CAT 2024 Slot 3 on November 24, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. The VARC section had 24 questions to be attempted in 40 minutes. It included 16 Reading Comprehension questions and eight Verbal Ability questions.
CAT 2024 Slot 3 VARC was rated moderate in several exam analyses. The section had four Reading Comprehension passages with four questions each. The passages covered the success of liquor brand Moutai, contamination of outer space, endangered languages and the need for regulation of artificial intelligence.
The Verbal Ability part included three para-summary questions, three para-completion questions and two odd-one-out questions. There were no para-jumble questions.

To get 99 percentile and above, candidates must attempt 40-45 out of 68 questions in CAT, with maximum accuracy.
The CAT VARC section is dominated by RC questions. Out of 24 questions about 14-16 are based on Reading Comprehension passages and the rest of them are based on parajumbles, para completion, etc.
CAT has about 12-16 RC question. Since, it is not mandatory to solve all the questions, candidates can maximize their scores by leaving out the questions related to the passage they find the toughest. There is negative marking in CAT so candidates must ensure that they mark only the correct options or do not mark any option at all.
