Factors considered for UCEED 2026 Seat Allotment

The allotment of seats (institutes) will be based on the following factors.

  1. UCEED 2026 merit rank
  2. Choices opted at the time of choice filling.
  3. Category of the candidate

Step 3 - UCEED 2026 Post-seat allotment options

  • Allotment of FIRST Choice Institute: If a candidate is offered his/her FIRST choice of the institute, the candidate can choose to ACCEPT (FREEZE) or DECLINE the offer. Note that if the seat is declined, the candidate will not be considered for seat allotment in any subsequent rounds. Also, the current allocation will be canceled.
  • Allotment of SECOND/THIRD choice of the institute - In this case, the candidate has two options before him/her: to ACCEPT (FREEZE) the choice or ACCEPT with the OPTION to be CONSIDERED for UPWARD MOVEMENT (‘float’) for subsequent rounds (if any).
  1. If the candidate accepts the seat, then he/she will not be considered for subsequent rounds as the current allocation is confirmed.
  2. If a candidate opts for the “FLOAT” option, the candidate may be offered a higher preference seat (if available) in a subsequent round. The candidate then has the option to accept the higher preference seat or decline it.
  3. If the higher preference seat is accepted, the seat allocated in the previous round will automatically be canceled.
  4. If the candidate declines the higher preference seat or no higher preference seat is offered (or available), the candidate will continue to hold the current allocation.
  • Last round of seat allotment: There will be no option to withdraw/ decline an accepted/ allotted seat after the seat allotment results have been announced in the last round.

Application forms that are incorrect and/or incomplete in any way will be summarily rejected, and the application will be considered invalid. The admitting institutes have the right to cancel, at any stage, the admission of a candidate per their rules and regulations in practice if it is found that any information provided by the candidate is incorrect or the application is incomplete.
  • Candidates may note that the offer of admission made to them during the online seat allocation process is provisional and will be confirmed by the admitting institutes only after the requisite fees are paid, the documents are duly verified, and their formalities are completed. Once the counselling is closed, the entire process of BDes admissions through the UCEED office is considered to be over and no further changes (viz. changing institute etc.) are permitted.

Q:   Can I get admission in IIT Hyderabad with 100 merit rank in UCEED 2026?
A:

The closing rank for IIT Hyderabad was 43. So, if you secure a merit rank of 100 in the UCEED 2026 exam, you chances of admission to the B. Des will be very low. To have a good chance of admission into the institute, you must target a UCEED merit rank within the top 40. However, note that if you belong to reserved categories, in that case the cut-off would be lower. Further, you will be considered for admission under both the reserved category and the open category.
