What is UPESEAT?
UPESEAT full form is the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies Engineering Aptitude Test. The University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) conducts the examination every year in multiple phases for admission to its BTech programmes. It is a self-financed, UGC and AICTE-approved University. Admission to UPES is done through UPESEAT, the JEE Main, CUET UG and based on class 12 marks. 80% of seats at the University are filled through UPESEAT, and the rest 20% through other modes such as JEE Mains result, Class 12 merit, CUET and more.
UPES was established in 2003 through the UPES Act, 2003, of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand. It emerged as an innovative institution offering industry-specialised undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked UPES 18th best in the law category, 36th best management institute, ranked 43rd under engineering, and secured 45th position in the university category.

Candidates have to complete registration, form-filling, upload the documents and pay the registration fee to apply for the exam. The application fee for UPESEAT is Rs 1750. UPESEAT Eligibility Criteria
UPES has released the UPESEAT eligibility criteria online. Candidates must check the eligibility criteria of UPESEAT before filling the application form. To apply for UPESEAT 2026, applicants must have a minimum of 50% marks in Classes X and XII, with 50% in PCM (Physics/Chemistry and Mathematics) in Class XII. - Nationality: Indian, as well as foreign national candidates, can apply for the UPESEAT exam
- Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10+2 Intermediate or equivalent examination from any recognised board. Class 12 appearing candidates are also allowed to appear for the exam.
- Marks in Qualifying Exam: Candidates must have obtained at least 50% marks in Class 10 & 12 and 50% marks aggregate in the PCM Subjects.
- JEE Main: Candidates who have scored more than the prescribed cut-off marks need not appear for UPESEAT 2026 and can participate directly in the counselling.
- Board: Candidates with scores equal to or above 80% in both Class 10 & 12 levels can either appear for UPESEAT 2026 or can participate directly in the counselling.
- SAT & CUET: Admissions will also be provided through SAT & CUET scores. The SAT cut-off will be 50%.

UPESEAT Admit Card 2026
The exam authority will send the UPESEAT 2026 admit card to the candidate's registered email address. Candidates can also download the admit cards from their login window. Since the UPESEAT exam is conducted in a remote proctored mode, the admit card only comprises the candidates' login details for the exam along with the test link. Each applicant will be given a unique login ID and password to take the test. Also, the admit card is different for each phase, and candidates need fresh credentials while taking the test. Only registered applicants who complete the fee payment will be given the admit card for UPESEAT 2026; hence, candidates must apply before the last date.
