UPESEAT 2026: Phase 2 Registration (Open), Eligibility, Pattern, Dates

UPESEAT full form is the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies Engineering Aptitude Test. The University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) conducts the examination every year in multiple phases for admission to its BTech programmes. It is a self-financed, UGC and AICTE-approved University. Admission to UPES is done through UPESEAT, the JEE Main, CUET UG and based on class 12 marks. 80% of seats at the University are filled through UPESEAT, and the rest 20% through other modes such as JEE Mains result, Class 12 merit, CUET and more.

UPES was established in 2003 through the UPES Act, 2003, of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand. It emerged as an innovative institution offering industry-specialised undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked UPES 18th best in the law category, 36th best management institute, ranked 43rd under engineering, and secured 45th position in the university category.

Candidates who wish to apply for the UPESEAT exam have to fill the form in online mode only. The UPSEAT 2026 application form is available at upes.ac.in. Candidates have to complete registration, form-filling, upload the documents and pay the registration fee to apply for the exam. The application fee for UPESEAT is Rs 1750. Candidates can pay the fee via online modes such as net banking, credit card, and debit card. There is no correction facility, thus students must fill the form carefully. The UPESEAT application form was released on September 12, 2025. The UPESEAT 2026 registration last date for phase 2 has been extended to April 29.

UPES has released the UPESEAT eligibility criteria online. Candidates must check the eligibility criteria of UPESEAT before filling the application form. To apply for UPESEAT 2026, applicants must have a minimum of 50% marks in Classes X and XII, with 50% in PCM (Physics/Chemistry and Mathematics) in Class XII. • Nationality: Indian, as well as foreign national candidates, can apply for the UPESEAT exam
• Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10+2 Intermediate or equivalent examination from any recognised board. Class 12 appearing candidates are also allowed to appear for the exam. 
• Marks in Qualifying Exam: Candidates must have obtained at least 50% marks in Class 10 & 12 and 50% marks aggregate in the PCM Subjects. 
• JEE Main: Candidates who have scored more than the prescribed cut-off marks need not appear for UPESEAT 2026 and can participate directly in the counselling. 
• Board: Candidates with scores equal to or above 80% in both Class 10 & 12 levels can either appear for UPESEAT 2026 or can participate directly in the counselling. 
• SAT & CUET: Admissions will also be provided through SAT & CUET scores. The SAT cut-off will be 50%.

UPESEAT Preparation Tips 2026

• Go through the complete UPESEAT syllabus and exam pattern. 
• Make a balanced time schedule and follow it strictly. 
• Solve the UPESEAT sample papers, and take the mock tests a month before the exam. 
• Make short notes. Revise notes regularly, and with short notes, revise the entire syllabus a few days before the exam. 
• Allot some time (at least one hour) for outdoor physical activity to keep yourself fit.

Candidates must check the UPESEAT 2026 exam pattern before starting their preparation. It provides details on the marking scheme, number of questions, subjects and more. The exam will be conducted in online mode for 120 minutes. There will be 4 sections in the UPESEAT 2026 exam- Physics, Mathematics/Biology, Chemistry and English Language. The UPESEAT 2026 question paper will be available in English only. The question paper will have 125 MCQs.

UPESEAT 2026 Exam Pattern 

The exam authority will send the UPESEAT 2026 admit card to the candidate's registered email address. Candidates can also download the admit cards from their login window. Since the UPESEAT exam is conducted in a remote proctored mode, the admit card only comprises the candidates' login details for the exam along with the test link. Each applicant will be given a unique login ID and password to take the test. Also, the admit card is different for each phase, and candidates need fresh credentials while taking the test. Only registered applicants who complete the fee payment will be given the admit card for UPESEAT 2026; hence, candidates must apply before the last date.

Candidates can choose their preferred exam date through the slot booking process. The UPESEAT slot booking 2026 for phase 2 exam will commence on April 20. Students will then be able to appear for the exam date and slot selected by them.
