NSAT Eligibility Criteria 2026

NSAT is a UG level entrance exam so the minimum academic qualification required is as follows:

  • Class 12 pass with 50% marks in relevant stream or equivalent from a recognised board or university
  • Candidates appearing in Class 12 exam or awaiting result are also eligible for NSAT. Such candidates will have to submit marksheet of final scores by a certain deadline
  • There is no age limit for NSAT but candidate should be minimum 17 years old.

NSAT Registration Process 2026

To apply for NSAT, candidates have to fill the NIU admissiom form. Check below the process of NSAT registration 2026:

  • Visit NIU website https://niu.edu.in/
  • Click on 'apply now 2026' tab
  • Enter basic information, select course and click on ‘apply online’
  • After successful registration, login with shared login ID
  • Fill NSAT 2026 form with academic and personal details
  • Upload a passport size photo in prescribed dimension
  • Pay application fee

Candidates must note that if applying for admission through a national level exam score such as JEE Main and CUET UG, then they will need to mention marks scored in the exam, in the NSAT application form.

NSAT application fee is INR 1100. The fee is to be paid at the time of form submission. There is no fee relaxation for any candidate. Candidates must ensure that they pay NSAT fee before application closure to be eligible for the exam. The fee can be paid online.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for NSAT?
A: 

NSAT is conducted for admission to UG courses, thus the minimum eligibility criteria is class 12 or equivalent pass. The candidate must have scored a minimum of 50 percent in their class 12 exam. For, BBA, BBA LLB course, the stream of education can be ARrts, Commerce or Science. BTech applicants must have completed their class 12 from Science stream (with maths). 

Q:   Is it compulsory to attempt all sections of NSAT?

It is not compulsory to attempt all sections of NSAT, but it is recommended to do so. Skipping an entire section will affect your overall score and you might not make the cut.

NSAT is an objective type exam having 75 questions. Candidates have to solve the NSAT question paper in 1.5 hours. The exam mode is online as well as offline. Marks per question is 2 and there is no negative marking. Check below subjects included in NSAT exam.

No, NSAT or NIU Scholarship cum Admission Test is not mandatory for NIU admission. The institute also accepts CUET for technical programmes. If a candidate has CUET score they can directly seek admission to NIU through counselling. However, if a candidate wishes to appear for NSAT and use its score for admission, they are allowed to do so.

NIU admission process through NSAT includes shortlisting of candidates for counselling, conduct of counselling round and final selection. Candidates who meet NSAT cut off or CUET cut off, are shortlisted for admission and a provisional merit list is released. Selected candidates are then required to reserve seat by paying 50 percent of the semester fee. The remaining fee is to be paid within a month to confirm admission.

Yes, NSAT syllabus for BTech is based on class 12 chapters of Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology. The NSAT BBA, BA LLB and BBA LLB syllabus includes English and Maths of class 9 -10 level. Reasoning and GK are additional subjects.
