JEE Main 2016 exam will be conducted in two parts this year i.e. offline and online. While the offline exam was conducted on April 3, 2016 between 9:30 AM and 12:30 PM and 2 PM to 5 PM, the online exam is scheduled on April 9 & 10, 2016. Over 12 lakh students are reported to have registered for JEE Main 2016, which was conducted across 2000 centres in 129 cities in India and abroad.

The exam paper for JEE Main 2016 for B.Tech course was divided over three sections (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). Also, there were four different versions of paper i.e. E, F, G, and H, wherein the questions were shuffled to avoid copying during the exam.

JEE Main 2016 pen-paper mode was conducted on April 3, 2016 (Sunday) from 09.30 am to 12.30 pm across the nation. There were 4 codes distributed to the students E, F, G & H respectively, wherein the number of questions in the paper was 90 (30 Questions each in Physics, Chemistry and Maths).
The total number of marks was 360 with one fourth negative mark for each wrong answer.

Overall Analysis of Question Paper
- Chemistry and Maths paper were low scoring compared to previous years.
- Physics paper was tedious as well as lengthy.
- Paper consisted of few questions with insufficient data.
- This year’s paper can be said a little challenging if compared to last year JEE Main exam.
- This paper shows that JEE MAIN and JEE Advanced are two different exams as JEE MAIN needs high speed, accuracy and some factual information while JEE Advanced needs in depth knowledge of subject matter.
- Considering all these facts, cut off marks in this paper is expected to be lower than that of previous year.
Subject Wise description of question paper
Physics
- Some questions are repeated as it is from previous year’s papers.
- Some questions are simple conceptual questions but lengthy in calculation.
- Paper has few questions with more than one answers & improper language which may confuse students.
- 53% questions are average, 37% are easy & 10% questions are difficult.
- Overall paper was easy as compared to previous year papers.
Chemistry
- Physical & inorganic parts were quite similar to the previous year paper.
- Organic part was difficult due to fact based questions.
- Two questions of physical part contain insufficient & incorrect data.
- All the topics are as per the NCERT syllabus.
- The questions of environmental chemistry require standard data of water pollution.
- Overall chemistry paper is low scoring as compared to previous year papers.
MATHEMATICS
- In comparison to the previous Year Paper Complete mathematics paper was above average.
- Some of the questions were very lengthy and tough.
- One of the questions from Binomial theorem was fundamentally wrong.
- Equal weightage was given to XI & XII Part.
- Overall paper was low scoring Paper.

Yes, JEE Main is enough for HVPM College of Engineering & Technology BTech admissions. The college accepts students through an entrance basis only. Hence, a student have either JEE Main or MHTCET score is eligible. The basic eligibility must also be fulfilled.

JEE Main is one of the accepted exams for Atharva School of Engineering and Technology BTech admissions. However, it is not compulsory. Students can also submit valid score obtained in MHT CET/ PERA CET/ CUET/ AU-AIET instead.

Yes, JEE Mains has been listed as an accepted entrance exam for MIT Academy of Engineering BTech admission. The institute has also listed MHT-CET as its accepted entrance exam. Thus, candidates with a JEE Mains score can apply directly without appearing for MHT-CET.
