What is NMAT Scaled Score & Percentile score?

Many candidates often confuse between NMAT scaled score and percentile score at the time of admission. To help them understand the difference between the two, read the definitions below.

Scaled scores: Once all the candidates have taken the test, their test form is equated on a common scale to remove and discrepancy in performance or scoring with regard to the overall difficulty level of each test form (NMAT question paper). The aim is to ensure that the difference in difficulty level of each exam paper does not affect the scores of the candidates’.

Final Percentile Score: The final NMAT result is in the form of percentile, which means each candidate’s scaled scores gets converted into percentile score, keeping in mind the number of test-takers in the year. For example, if a candidate's NMAT percentile score is 90, then that candidate's total NMAT score is better than 90 per cent of the candidates.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   What is the NMAT scaled scores?
A:

NMAT exam is conducted three times within a specified test window. Candidates can choose the preferred exam date from the available test window. Since the questions attempted by different candidates may have different difficulty level, GMAC scales the scores of each attempt to equalise the performance of all the candidates.

After the exam, the test forms are equated on a common scale to remove any kind of discrepancy in regards with the performance of candidate owing to different difficulty level of each NMAT question paper. All the students have then scored on an equated scale to avoid candidates benfitting from indifferent difficulty standards.

Q:   Whay is NMAT scaled score vs NMAT percentile score?
A:

NMAT scaled scores are based on the raw exam score after adjusrting for the difficulty level of the exam version. The scaled score helps ensure fairness across different test slots. Whereas, the NMAT percentile score was calculated earlier to evaluate candidates on a relative scale. Lately, GMAC dropped releasing the NMAT percentile score. NMAT scorecard hosts the NMAT scaled score for all three sections as well as the overall scaled score of the candidate.

Based on test-taker feedback, the NMAT exam is moderate to tough. It focuses heavily on speed, accuracy, and basic conceptual understanding. Almost all candidates find the NMAT exam easier than CAT, and its difficulty is comparable to SNAP

Divide your six months into three focused phases. Allot three months to thoroughly cover the NMAT syllabus. Dedicate two months to practice a minimum of 30 mock tests, and use the final month to revise formulas and concepts
