JEE Main 2025 Session 1 Result Analysis: Experts Predict Cutoff for JEE Advanced Might Rise

The JEE Main 2025 results were announced on February 11. A total of 14 candidates have achieved a 100 percentile score, with the highest number of toppers from Rajasthan, which boasts five students at the top. Delhi and Uttar Pradesh each have two toppers, while Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh each have one. Additionally, the NTA has reported that the results of 39 candidates were withheld due to their involvement in unfair practices.
JEE Main 2025 Result Analysis: Lesser Candidates Score 100 Percentile in Past Two Years
The list of JEE Main 2025 toppers features 14 candidates who scored 100 percentile. In comparison, the previous year (2024) saw 23 toppers in session 1 and 56 in session 2. In 2023, there were 20 toppers in session 1 and 43 in session 2.
JEE Main 2025 Result Analysis: Highest Registration from OBC Category
A total of 13,11,544 candidates registered for JEE Main Paper 1 (B.E./B. Tech.) across various categories and genders. Of these, 4,43,622 were female candidates, including 1,67,790 from the General category, 45,627 from EWS, 42,704 from SC, 13,833 from ST, and 1,73,668 from OBC. Male candidates accounted for 8,67,920 registrations, comprising 3,21,419 from General, 96,159 from EWS, 87,550 from SC, 28,778 from ST, and 3,34,014 from OBC. In total, registrations from the General category amounted to 4,89,210, 1,41,786 from EWS, 1,30,254 from SC, 42,611 from ST, and the highest number, 5,07,683, from OBC.
JEE Main 2025 Result Analysis: Highest Attendance from OBC Category
Out of the total 13,11,544 candidates who registered for the exam, 12,58,136 appeared for JEE Main 2025 Session 1. The OBC category had the highest attendance with 4,90,275 candidates, followed by the General category with 4,66,358 candidates. The SC category had 1,22,845 candidates, while the ST category saw 39,959 candidates attending. Additionally, the EWS category reported 1,38,699 candidates taking the exam.
JEE Main 2025 Result Analysis: Expected Cutoff
The important thing to note is more candidates from the OBC category registered and took the exam as compared to the general category, this may affect the JEE Main cutoff for Advanced, especially for the OBC category. Experts say that the cutoff will rise across categories. 2.5 lakh top candidates from JEE Main 2025 will qualify for JEE Advanced exam. The expected cutoff for JEE Advanced eligibility is as follows, according to the experts:
- Gen - 94 percentile
- EWS - 85 percentile
- OBC - 82 percentile
- SC - 65 percentile
- ST - 54 percentile

It is important to note that this yearβs exam has been reported to be more difficult than last year, resulting in a lower number of candidates achieving a 100 percentile. This could potentially impact the cutoff. However, with the April attempt still to come, the cutoff may change significantly. The final number of registrations and the number of candidates appearing for the exam will be determined after the April attempt, and these factors will play a crucial role in shaping the JEE Main 2025 cutoff for JEE Advanced.
