BTech at NIT Rourkela is a course of four-year duration divided into eight semesters. The institute offers BTech in 14 specialisations, such as, BTech in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering etc. NIT Rourkela BTech admission is based on their JEE Main score. The centralised counselling process is managed and regulated by JoSAA based on which the seat allotment is carried out. The institute also offers a BTech-MTech (Dual Degree) programme for five years divided into ten semesters. The course is offered in four specialisations, including Chemical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and Mining Engineering.

Every year, NTA conducts the JEE Main entrance exam for the selection of eligible candidates in IIT, NIT and IIITs. The admission process for JEE Main 2026 (session 1) registrations has been completed. JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam will be held from January 21 to 30, and session 2 will be held from April 2 to 9. January 21 to 30.
JEE Main Registration 2024 session 2 last date was March 4. NTA released JEE Main 2024 Application form session 2 on February 2. JEE Main Application form 2024 session 2 was available online on the official website jeemain.nta.ac.in. Candidates who have applied for JEE Main 2024 session 1 had not register again. Such candidates only need to fill the paper details (BE/BTech or BArch/BPlan) and pay application fees. JEE Main 2024 registration last date session 2 was March 4.

Yes, NIT Rourkela offers equal opportunity to students to apply for the scholarships. Some of the scholarships provided by the university are PMS (Post-Matric Scholarships) (for SC-ST students) given by Orissa Government, Indian Oil Scholarships, and others. NIT is a government university hence the fee is not very high. Even if the students does not find the fee a little high, they can apply for the scholarships provided by the university.

The closing rank for general category in M.Sc Chemistry was around 787.
You rank is actually very close to the cutoff.
You may receive a seat in 2nd round or 3rd round as it might change across the rounds when seats freed.

The rankings of IIT Bhubaneswar and NIT Rourkela are different. NIT Rourkela is ranked 16th in the engineering college and IIT Bhubaneswar is ranked 47th according to NIRF ranking. and NIT Rourkella come among top 50 college in the country while IIT Bhubneshawar come among 20 indias top engineering
