NO, it is compulsory to attempt all questions in the JEE Main exam. The JEE Main exam has negative marking and candidates must answer only those questions for which they know the correct answer. Students must note that there are no minimum marks in JEE Main that students need to score. Students gets All India Rank based on the marks they secure in exam and gets admission based on that rank.
There are two question types in JEE Main exam. Multiple choice questions and numerical ability questions. In MCQ, every question has 4 options with only 1 correct answer. Select the correct option. In numerical ability question type, no options are there. Solve them and write answer using keyword and mouse.
JEE Main 27 January Shift 2 exam as per students' reactions, the overall SHIFT 2 paper was easy. Some students' felt easy to moderate. Maths as usual was lengthy, Physics and Chemistry was easy but in Chemistry theory-based questions were asked. Most of the questions in Chemistry were from Organic. In Physics questions were from mechanics, semiconductors, electrostatic, current etc. Analysis for Paper 1 is provided below along with the memory-based questions and answers for Shift 2.
JEE Main 27 January SHIFT 1 was concluded and overall analysis of the exam was easy to moderate as per some students. Some of the students' felt easy. The JEE Main of Janaury 27 Shift 1 was easy as per students and some students felt easy to moderate.
Section-wise difficulty level is provided below:
Mathematics - Easy but lengthy. Some felt that integers questions were slightly tough.
Chapterwise weightage of class 11 and 12 topics in JEE Main are mentioned below:
- Physics: Current Electricity Waves AC, Magnetism, Laws of Motion Work, Power and Energy.
- Chemistry the high weightage topics are s and p block elements, Coordination compounds, Thermodynamics Gaseous state, Chemical bonding, Atomic structure, Polymers, Environmental Chemistry Organic Chemistry.
- Mathematics, the high weightage topics are Sequence and Series Vectors and 3D, Integral and Differential Calculus, Definite and Indefinite Integral.
JEE Main question paper is in English, Hindi and language selected when you filled application form. In total, JEE Main is in 13 languages and you can select any language out of available options. You cannot switch language of question paper during exam.

- Multiple choice questions was +4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response, 0 if not attempted.
- Marking scheme for numerical based questions was +4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response, and 0 in all other cases.
- Total marks of this section were 100.
- Questions covered almost all chapters of Class XI & XII CBSE Board. Balanced Paper.
Difficulty level as per students'
- Mathematics: Easy. Weightage was given to chapters of Coordinate Geometry and Calculus. Questions from Circle, Ellipse & Hyperbola, Functions, Limits & Continuity, Differentiability, Differential equations, Definite Integral, Permutation & Combination, Binomial Theorem, Progressions, Statistics, Matrices & Determinants, Probability & Vectors. The numerical based section had lengthy calculations but was easy.
- Physics: Easy. Questions asked from almost all chapters. Some good questions asked were from Kinematics, Heat & Thermodynamics, Sound & Waves, Rotational Motion, Optics, Current Electricity, Modern Physics, Atoms & Nuclei. Numerical based questions were easy. This section was balanced and easy.
- Chemistry: Easy. Organic Chemistry has more questions as compared to Inorganic and Physical Chemistry. Some good questions asked were from the topics Colloids, GOC, Amines, Aldehydes & Ketones, Biomolecules, Phenol & Ethers, Aryl & Alkyl Halides mixed concept questions, Mole concept, Electrochemistry, d-block elements. Mostly NCERT fact-based questions asked which made it easy for students.
- In terms of difficulty level overall, this paper was of easy level.
- Students were given booklet for rough work.
- There were tight invigilation as per the students'.
- No errors were reported in the question papers.

- NTA has changed the difficulty level of Shift-2 as compared to the one asked in shift-1.
- The evening shift (shift-2) paper was a bit more difficult as compared to the one asked in Shift-1.
- The JEE MAIN paper of January 27, 2024 (Evening Shift) was of Moderate level.
- Physics were on the moderate to difficult level whereas Chemistry was on the easier side.
- Mathematics: Mathematics paper was moderate to difficult. Questions from Algebra were dominant in the paper. A good number of questions were asked from Vectors, 3D and Limits, Continuity and Differentiability. Questions from Integration and Matrix and Determinants were there in the paper. Almost all the topics were covered.
- Chemistry: The paper was by and large based on NCERT books. Very few questions in this shift were asked from Organic chemistry. Most of the questions were from the Physical Chemistry part. 2-3 questions were asked from d-block elements. Questions from prominent chapters like Thermodynamics, Bonding Alkyl and Aryl halides were asked.
- Physics: The physics part was of moderate to difficult level as some good assertion-reasoning questions were there. Questions from Modern Physics, Work Power and Energy, Fluids and Thermodynamics were there in the paper. Most of the questions were asked from the 12th class syllabus.

The JEE Main exam of January 27, 2024 Shift 1 was easy to moderate. Mathematics had some tricky questions whereas Chemistry and Physics were easy to moderate. Detailed Subject-Wise analysis is provided below:
Mathematics: This paper was moderate to difficult level as per some students. Questions asked were from Calculus, 2-D Matrix and Determinants, Complex Numbers, etc. Almost, all topics were covered.
Chemistry: The paper was almost based on NCERT books. Most of the quetions were theoritical. Few questions were confusing and based on memory. Questions asked from Chemical Kinetics, Biomolecules, Alcohol, Phenol and Ethers, Thermodynamics and Aldehyde, Ketone and Carboxylic Acids. Overall coverage was uniform.
Physics: As per students the paper was easy to moderate. Questions asked were from Mechanics, Current electricity etc. Most of the questions were based on Class 11 syllabus.
Overall, it was a balanced paper which can be solved in the stipulated time. Average students found Mathematics difficult. Subject-wise as per students: Mathematics > Physics > Chemistry

- Few fact-based questions from class XII chapters of NCERT were also asked. Students felt more weightage given to XII Class chapters.

- In terms of order of Difficulty – Mathematics was Moderate.

As per students' JEE Main 2024 January 27 Shift 1 overall exam was easy to moderate. Some students' felt easy. Students feel the paper was good and they performed well. Paper was same as last year, no change in pattern. Assertion and reasoning type questions were there.
Some of the questions were asked from deleted syllabus of JEE Main 2024 Maths.
