JEE Main 2018 offline (pen & paper) exam is being conducted on April 8, while the online exam is scheduled for April 15 and 16. Conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the exam is a gateway for admissions to undergraduate engineering programmes offered by NITs (National Institutes of Technology), IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), other CFTIs (Centrally Funded Technical Institutions).

The exam is spread over two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. While Paper 1 (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) is for BE/BTech aspirants, Paper 2 (2 pm to 5 pm) will be conducted for BArch/ BPlan courses.

Once the exam is over, students would be curious to predict their JEE Main ranks based on their expected scores in the exam. The next step after this would be to shortlist colleges that they would like to get admitted to. To help students through this phase, Shiksha has launched a simple, useful and easy to use JEE Main Rank Predictor Tool.

For 2023 it was ~ 63,416, and for 2022 about 47,509 — showing demand has been rising year‑on‑year.

For branches like ECE (or general electronics‑type branches), the 2024 closing rank was ~112,216.
