Explore and keep other options as back-up. Conduct extensive research for main institutes with pros and cons to increase the number of options available. Prepare with complete dedication and focus on clearing the exam in the first attempt itself.
During the preparation phase of any exam, students are often in a predicament, what to do next in case their scores are low or the results are below expectations. In such a scenario, they would want to know the other options available or the course of action path they would follow.
Explore colleges based on JEE Advanced
This article would discuss the other options for students appearing for JEE Advanced to give them clear understanding about these options in case of the requirement (scenario mentioned above).
This article is to make the student aware of the situation and take necessary steps.
Option 1: If a student wants to take admission in IIT only, then they should think of attempting the exam for the second time and drop the year. This require diligence, complete focus and confidence on the part of the student to secure good rank in the second attempt as dropping a year increases the pressure on the student. Give extra time, double the amount of efforts given in the first attempt. Also, make sure that there is no deviation after dropping the year. Hence, choose wisely.
Option 2: Another option available would be to take admission in top NITs basis the rank secured in JEE Mains . Also, in a case where a student is unable to get into NITs then try for admission on the basis of other exams score.
Along with JEE, most of the students often appear for some other exams like BITSAT, VITEEE, SRMJEEE and so on. This would create more options for a student as a back-up for worst case scenarios. Hence, options for getting admission in the top colleges would still be open for students.
Some of the best institutes such as IITs, NITs, etc. with their exams are given below:
- Birla Institute of Technology and Science – BITSAT
- VIT University, Vellore – VITEEE
- SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai – SRMEEE
- Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal – MU-OET
- University of Petroleum and Energy Studies – UPESEAT
- Shiv Nadar University – SNUSAT
Students could also try preparing and giving some other good exams and institutes according to your choice, priority, etc. Always remember that knowledge and intelligence is important for a student than other things.

You will not be eligible for admission as preparatory ranks are not considered under round 1. Since you have already qualified to appear for JEE (Advanced), all you need to do is meet the second criterion and apply for round 2, which will be only conducted if seats from round 1 remain vacant.

Yes, you can still get admission in Round 2 if you meet eligibility criteria to appear in JEE (Advanced) and have a valid JEE (Mains) rank. Also, you must have scored 60% or above in class 12th. For SC/ST/PwD category students, 55% or above is required.
