IISER Entrance Exam 2026 Eligibility Criteria
To meet the eligibility criteria to appear for the IISER 2026 entrance exam are given below.

The candidates must have passed the Class XII or equivalent level examination in 2024, 2025 or 2026 from any board recognised by the Council of Boards of School Education in India.

Candidates must have taken at least three subjects among Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics during their Class 12 Board exam or equivalent.

Candidates belonging to reserved categories are required to score a minimum of 55 per cent marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class 12 Board or equivalent examination. Candidates belonging to other categories are required to score a minimum of 60 per cent marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class 12 Board or equivalent examination.
NOTE: The students from the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), from Kashmir division/Winter Zone areas of Jammu division and the U.T. of Ladakh, who had appeared in their Class 12 Board or equivalent level examination in December 2022, will also be eligible to apply for the IAT 2026, provided they satisfy the other eligibility criteria.

To get eligible for the IISER Entrance Exam, aspirants must abide by the following citizenship rules:
- The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
- The candidate can be a PIO or Person of Indian Origin. A PIO is a foreign citizen who has held an Indian passport or has parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents who were born and permanently resident in India. The Government of India launched the PIO Card Scheme in 1999 to make it easier for people to return to India.

For Candidates seeking admission under the OBC-NCL category:
- As per the latest guidelines of the Government of India, the OBC-NCL Certificate should have been issued on or after April 01, 2025.
- If any OBC-NCL candidate fails to submit the OBC-NCL Certificate (issued on or after April 01, 2025) at the time of online application, the candidate has to upload a signed declaration form.
- The candidate has to upload a fresh Certificate (issued on or after 1 April 2025) on or before July 7, 2025.
- If the Certificate is not uploaded by the given date and time, the candidate will not be considered for admission under this category. If qualified, the category will be adjusted accordingly in the Common Rank List.
IISER Entrance Exam is conducted for admission to the 5-year BS MS programme offered at the seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research. Apart from that, the IISER Aptitude Test scores are also accepted by IISc Bangalore for the 4-year BS course and for the BS - Medical Sciences and Engineering programme at IIT Madras.
