Commonly asked questions
Q:   Will the application fees be refunded if I do not appear for the CMAT exam?
A:
No, the CMAT registration fees is non-refundable. If they do not appear for the exam they cannot claim refund for the application form. Since, it is mentioned in the exam information brochure that the fee is non-refundable, no requests for refund are entertained by the NTA. The fee will not be refunded to any candidate under any circumstances, which includes errors in the form. Thus, candidates must check eligibility criteria and terms and conditions before applying or the exam. They must also not make mistakes in the form to avoid double form filling and fee payment. Because if they make mistakes in the form they cannot edit it (except for graduation score, test city, photo and signature). They will have to fill a fresh CMAT application form and pay the fee amount again. However, if there is error at the time of fee payment and your money is deducted but the payment is not completed then your money will be refunded by the bank within 5 working days.
Q:   I scored less than 50 percent marks in Graduation. Am I eligible to apply for CMAT?
A:
Yes, you are eligible to apply for CMAT exam. Any candidate who has secured passing marks in graduation can apply for CMAT. Candidates must ensure that they have cleared graduation to be able to apply. Final year students planning to appear for the exam must ensure that they have passed the first two years of Bachelor's degree and must target passing marks in the final year as well. However, colleges accepting CMAT score for admission have a 50 per cent in graduation. The minimum score requirement for SC, ST, PwD candidates is 45 per cent as minimum criteria thus candidates must not target passing marks in graduation as even if they will clear CMAT. They might not get admission as they will not meet the institutes academic eligibility criteria.
Q:   I belong to SC category. Is there any marks relaxation in CMAT for SC students?
A:

There is no minimum marks criterion for appearing in CMAT exam. Any candidate who has passed a Bachelor's degree programme from a recognised university can apply. Final year candidates are also eligible to apply for CMAT if they scored passing marks in their first and second year of Bachelor's degree programme. However, there is a minimum score requirement at CMAT accepting colleges for admission. All the UGC and AICTE approved institutions have the minimum score requirement of 45 per cent in aggregate in graduation for candidates for Scheduled Caster/ Scheduled Tribe and Person with Disability categories. Thus, you must ensure that you have an aggregate score of at least 45 per cent in your graduation to be able to get admission into a full-time MBA programme at a government recognised institution.

The exam authorities will not share the details of any exam centre before the release of CMAT admit card. The NTA however, releases city intimation slip before the admit card which contains the name of the city in which the test centre has been allotted. A:

The CMAT exam was held in January 2026. NTA usually starts registration for CMAT in November every year. Those interested in appearing for the exam are required to register for it at CMAT-NTA website and fill out the online application form. The score of CMAT will be valid for one year only, so if you appear for CMAT 2026, you must take admission in the same academic year.

Apart from 1300 B-schools, the CMAT score is also valid for admission through MAH CET CAP. The Maharashtra State CET Cell conducts MBA/MMS admissions for 300 colleges in the state. It is followed by a common counselling process called CAP. CMAT test takers can also participate in MAH MBA CET CAP and secure a seat in MBA/MMS course offered by over 300 colleges in Maharashtra.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   How many cities can I choose for allotment of CMAT exam centre?
A:
Candidates can choose up to four cities for allotment of CMAT exam centre in the application form. Candidates must take utmost care in selecting the cities as once the form is submitted, they can't change city preference. They should choose the first city of preference as their hometome or where they are residing as the exam authorities will strive to allot the test centres to candidates in their first city of preference. Candidates are allotted a test centre in second or third preference only in a situation where the seats have been filled or the exam has been cancelled at that location. Choose cities very carefully as once selected the change can be made only at the time of form correction.
Q:   Can I change my exam centre after the CMAT admit card has been issued?
A:
No. You cannot change the exam centre after the CMAT admit card has been issued. You cannot take the exam at any other centre other than the one mentioned in your admit card, either. So make an informed decision at time of selecting your test city in the CMAT application form. Select only those cities where you can make arrangement of stay on the CMAT exam day. Choose your home city or city of current residence as the first test city. The examination authorities try to allot the test centre to a candidate as per their first preference. However, sometimes if there are not enough number of applicants for a city, the centre may be cancelled there and candidates are allotted a test centre in the next city of preference. If at a particular exam centre in a city has already been filled with candidates, then the remaining students are allotted a test city in the next city of preference.
Q:   How can I pay CMAT application fee?
A:

You can pay the CMAT application fee via debit/credit card or netbanking. You can also make the fee payment via UPI wallet.
