Commonly asked questions
Q:   What is the passing percentage for MBA admissions in TG ICET exam?
A:

Telangana Council of Higher Education has set the minimum qualifying marks at 25 per cent in TSICET for open category candidates. Candidates belonging to reserved categories do not have any qualifying cutoff score. Typically, the pass percentage in TGICET remains between 85 per cent to 93 per cent of all the test takers. Candidates who pass the TGICET exam are eligible for the counselling process administered online. TGCHE conducts a centralised counselling process for Telangana MBA admissions.

Q:   How is TSICET rank allotted?
A:
TSICET rank is allotted based on the normalised scores of the test takers. However, there can be cases when scores of two or more test takers are similar. In such cases, Kakatiya University will allot the TSICET rank by following the below mentioned chronological process - 1. First preference will be given to the test takers with a higher score in section A of TSICET exam. 2. In case the candidates have an equal score in section A, then the candidate with higher marks in section B will be preferred for rank allotment. 3. If the tie persists after considering the scores in Section A and B, TSCHE considers the age of the two candidates. The candidate who is older in age will get the TSICET rank preference.
Q:   Is there any difference between TSICET rank card and TSICET result?
A:
No. Kakatiya University terms the TSICET result as rank card. Candidates can view and download rank cards from the official website. Candidates will have to get the TSICET rank card verified at the time of counselling process. While checking the TSICET results, candidates can download the PDF copy of the rank card by clicking the 'Print' button available beneath the result window. TSICET ranks are based on the normalised scores of the candidate, calculated using the specified formulae.

A:
No. Candidates will not receive any physical copy of the TSICET socrecard/rank card. After declaration of the TSICET results, candidates must login on the official web portal of Telangana ICET, available on icet. Tsche. AC. In to download and take the print of the TSICET rank card. No other mode is available to obtain the rank card. Kakatiya University will not entertain any requests from the candidates regarding the issuance of rank card via email, post or fax.
Q:   Why is TSICET score normalisation process required?
A:
The primary aim of the normalisation of marks in the TSICET examination process is to ensure that all students are evaluated on a similar scale. TSICET score normalisation guarantees that no test taker gets an advantage or a disadvantage due to multiple exam shifts. TSICET normalisation process brings all the test takers, across shifts, on a comparative scale. Since there are different Sets of questions in each shift, test takers who appeared in a shift with an easy set of questions may get their scores reduced after normalisation. Similarly, test takers who appeared in a difficult exam shift of TSICET may get their score improved from the raw score after normalisation. The difficulty standards of each session are evaluated based on the average performance of the test takers in a particular exam shift.
Q:   What is a good TSICET score?
A:

A good score in TSICET can depend on numerous factors. Candidates scoring above 100 marks is considered to have obtained a good score in ICET.

How is TG ICET 2026 Rank Allotted?

TS ICET results 2026 indicate three elements, namely raw score, normalised score, and rank. The space below mentions the TS ICET result compilation process.

Calculation of TS ICET 2026 Raw Score

TS ICET raw score is calculated using the formulae derived from the marking scheme. Since candidates get +1 mark for each correct response with no negative marking, TGICET raw score will be the number of correct responses marked. The raw score is an indicator of a candidate's performance in a particular shift.

TS ICET 2026 Score Normalisation & Rank Allotment

TGCHE conducts TS ICET in multiple shifts. Since the difficulty standards of each section vary, the TGICET score is equated on a standard scale. The process to equate the performance of all test takers on a similar scale is known as the normalisation process.

Calculation of TG ICET Normalised Score

TG ICET normalised score is calculated using a predefined formula. TGCHE calculates the standard deviation and average of the marks across all shifts to normalise the performance. The formula used for calculating TS ICET normalised score is as mentioned below:

Normalised marks of the candidate = GASD + [(GTA - GASD) / (STA - SASD)] × (Marks obtained by the candidate in the subject in a session - SASD)

In the above formula,

  • SASD is the Sum of Average and Standard Deviation of the subject of a session in which the candidate appeared.
  • GASD is the Sum of Average and Standard Deviation of all the candidates across all sessions of the subject put together.
  • STA refers to the Average mark of the top 0.1 per cent of the candidates in the subject of a session in which the candidate appeared.
  • GTA is the Average mark of the top 0.1 per cent of all the candidates across all the sessions of the subject put together.

Based on the normalised scores, TGCHE allots a rank to all the test takers who pass the exam. TGICET ranks are in the order of merit as per the normalised scores.

Also Read:

TS ICET Tie Breaking Criteria

If two or more candidates achieve the same TS ICET score, TGCHE implements a set of tie-breaking criteria in the following chronological order:

  1. Section A Marks: The candidate who secures higher marks in Section A of the exam gets first preference in rank allotment.
  2. Section B Marks: If the Section A marks are also identical, the candidate with higher marks in Section B is given preference.
  3. Age: If the tie still persists after comparing both sections, TGCHE considers the age of the candidates. The older candidate, as per the date of birth on their SSC certificate, is awarded the higher rank.

NOTE: TG ICET rank is not allotted to the candidates who have not passed the exam. TS ICET qualifying marks vary across categories. UR category candidates must obtain 25 per cent marks to pass the exam. Reserved category candidates with 0 marks will get a rank based on their age.

TG ICET College Predictor

TG ICET colleges are allocated based on the candidate's rank and the reservation policy. Candidates can use the TS ICET college predictor tool to evaluate their available options based on the rank they secure. Shiksha has developed the TG ICET college predictor tool based on the cutoff ranks of past admission sessions.
