There are so many success stories around us that there’s no dearth of inspiration. Every day, we hear a new story that reinforces the belief that nothing is impossible. That every hurdle is surmountable if you are determined enough.
This year, the CAT 2016 results once again gave us various stories worth writing about- 20 candidates who scored cent percentile and hundreds of other who missed the magic figure just by a fraction.
But there are some stories, which not only inspire you but also touch you heart. Here, we feature a few CAT 2016 test-takers who won against all odds.

Nishant Chaudhary (Overall score: 98.7 Percentile)
Nishant Chaudhary’s success in CAT 2016 is not only a reason of celebration in his family but his entire village. This 98 percentiler belongs to a small village, Madhi in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.
Nishant’s success is special and more commendable because did it without the availability of even basic amenities. Irregular power supply made it impossible for him to prepare for the exam in his village. Determined to crack the exam, he joined a coaching institute 30 kilometers away from his home and he would travel the distance every day to attend the classes.
The 22-year-old even left his job as a safety engineer at a textile mill to focus on his preparation. The son of a small-time farmer, is hoping to get interview calls from the top IIMs.
Simarpreet Singh, (99.97 percentile)
Chandigarh’s Simarpreet Singh met with a road accident in August 2015 which damaged his spinal cord and left him wheel chair bound. Despite being paralysed waist down, Simarpreet was determined to crack the CAT 2016 exam. His grit and hardwork paid off and he scored 99.97 percentile that too without taking any coaching.
The 22-year-old BITS, Pilani graduate has already received interview calls from IIM Bengaluru and IIM Ahmedabad and wishes to join the latter.

Purav Shah (99.98 percentile)
Vadodara lad Purav Shah topped the CAT 2016 in Gujarat with 99.98 percentile. An electrical engineering student of M S University's Faculty of Technology and Engineering (FTE)’s humble background did not scare him into not taking the plunge.
His biggest support came in the form of his parents, who supported him whole-heartedly in all his decisions. Purav’s father Harish works as a junior clerk at the Vadodara Municipal Corporation while mother Dipti is a housewife; but they provided him total support throughout his CAT prep journey.
