MAT 2026 exam cities are different for PBT and CBT. Candidates can apply for MAT by registering at the AIMA website. The option to select test cities will be given in the application form. Applicants are advised to choose their home towns or cities closest to their current city as the first preference in the MAT exam form. Candidates must note that the city option in the form is non-editable after final submission. No request for change of MAT test centre is accepted by AIMA later. Thus, they must select the cities for MAT test centre allocation carefully. Ideal time to start MAT preparation is 6 months before the exam session. But if you have appeared for it before, you will need less time to prepare. So, plan your preparation accordingly.
MAT has 2 sections which are completely Maths based – Mathematical Skills and Data Interpretation, so it is not possible to crack MAT without having a good control over this subject.
MAT scoring is done between 200 to 800, so a nearly 650 or 700 will get you 90 to 95 percentile. A score of 600 is also good as it converts into percentile between 80 to 85.

Items to Carry to the MAT Exam Centre
Candidates are supposed to carry the following items to the MAT examination centre for both PBT and CBT mode exams:
- Blue/Black ball point pen
- Colour print out of the MAT admit card 2026
- Photo ID card issued by the Government of India
- Passport size photo ( 2 copies)
Candidates must note that the digital copy of admit card or the photo ID will not be accepted as a valid document for identification.

Yes, MAT exam is MCQ types. There are no subjective type or TITA questions. Every question carries 4 answer options. Candidates have to select one option as correct answer.
Documents to Carry to the MAT Exam Centre
Candidates must note that, at the MAT test centre, only the hard copy of the admit card will be accepted as a valid document. Along with MAT 2026 admit card, candidates must carry a photo ID card.
- Hard copy of MAT 2026 admit card
- Duly filled hard copy of the self-declaration form
- A valid original Photo ID proof such as:
- Voter ID Card
- PAN Card
- Driving License
- Aadhaar Card
- Passport
- Photo ID card issued by any government department
- Photo ID card issued by a recognised educational institution
- PwD candidates, in addition to the above, must carry a copy of disability certificate issued by a competent authority
