With NTA’s decision to conduct the JEE Main exam twice a year from 2019, many aspirants are at an added advantage. The first phase of the JEE Main 2019 recently concluded on 12th Jan and students who are not sure of getting a good rank in this attempt have a second chance in April. JEE Main 2019 April exam is scheduled to be held between April 7 – 20) and the registration for the this session has commenced from February 8. The last date to fill JEE Main 2019 application forms is March 7, 2019.
The Common Rank List (CRL) for JEE Main 2019 will be available in the first week of May, after the April exam results are declared on April 30, 2019. NTA will consider better of the two scores to prepare JEE Main merit list, for candidates who appeared for both sessions of the exam. The CRL will denote the All India Rank (AIR) and Category Ranks of the candidates in addition to marks secured by candidates in the exam. JEE Main rank will determine a candidate’s admissions to NITs (National Institutes of Technology), IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology) and GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes).

For candidates who missed out on the first attempt or want to improve their ranking to qualify for JEE Advanced, JEE Main April 2019 exam is their chance. Strengthen Your Weaker Subjects
If you appeared for the first phase of the exam, you can identify the chapters whose questions were difficult to solve in the first attempt. Consult teachers and faculty for clearing doubts. Allocate adequate time to each subject such that due attention is paid to each topic. Allocating extra hours every week for subjects that are difficult and incorporating doubt clearing session in your prep routine would be of great help.
Discipline is the key to follow your time table. You should allocate one hour a week for self-analysis and correction. A well-conceived study plan clubbed with regular mock tests would help you streamline your preparation to progressive perfection.
Utilize The Gap Between Board Exams
With Board exams and JEE Main April exam being closely scheduled, it becomes critical to meticulously plan the preparations for both these exams. However, the challenge revolves around how to focus and go about it to emerge victorious in both the exams. During this phase you must not only focus on scoring good marks, but also perfect the art of simultaneous preparation for two major exams of your life – Boards & JEE Main.
There are certain sub-topics in various subjects which generally get more weightage in the Boards because the questions are subjective type. There are also some topics which are part of JEE Main but are not the part of JEE Advanced which some students tend to ignore during their preparation. For example, in Physics, the chapter on Electronic Devices and Communications Systems is a part of JEE Main and the Board exam but not a part of JEE Advanced. Students should carefully study these chapters along with solving questions from sample papers to comfortably handle descriptive questions from these chapters.
Practice Lot Of Questions But With Clear Concepts
Problem solving combined with concept clarity accelerates success as the exam may not have a fixed pattern. It is good to solve questions but you should also focus on strengthening your basics. Cracking JEE requires great amount of hard-work and a good emphasis on critical thinking. It is, thus, imperative to understand the application of the concept as well.

With 77 percentile, getting a seat is possible, but it will depend on the branch and the admission cycle. For highly demanded branches like CSE, the chances are usually quite low at that percentile. But for some core or less competitive branches, there may still be opportunities.

No, candidates cannot take admission in BTech at NIT Uttarakhand without JEE Main. It is the mandatory national-level entrance test for admission through JoSAA/CSAB counselling. Admission is based entirely on your JEE Main Rank and counseling round.
