MET exam is conducted by Manipal Academy of Higher Education as an annual exam for admissions into the BTech courses offered by their participating campuses. The entrance examination is held twice a year - in April and May. Candidates have the choice of attempting one or both phases of Manipal Entrance Test. The best score of MET exam is considered for admissions into the four campuses: Manipal, Jaipur, Bengaluru and Sikkim.

MET is held as a computer-based test across different cities. The overall level of the entrance examination will be similar to JEE Mains. MAHE releases official syllabus, pattern, eligibility and more through the MET official website at manipal.edu. Around 1.5 lakh candidates submit their MET registrations annually. What is MET Exam?

Manipal Entrance Test is held as an annual entrance examination to select eligible candidates for admission into the offered BTech courses. Through MET exam, students are assessed on their aptitude and knowledge of 11th and 12th standard qualifying exam syllabus. MET will consist of both Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

Earlier, MET scores were the only scores accepted for admissions. However, the authorities have started accepting JEE Main scores for 20% of approved general category seats in Manipal and Bengaluru campuses.

Manipal MET Registration 2027

MET application form 2027 will be released online at manipal.edu. Candidates will be required to fill and submit the online application form to be eligible for the entrance exam and admission process. The official MET 2027 registration dates will be announced soon. Separate forms will be released for the two MET exam phases.

MET Application Process

The steps given below can be followed to be registered for MET exam.

Candidates will have to register online at manipal.edu using their name, email address, valid mobile number, state, district, programme applying for, stream, and campus/location. The MET login password will be sent through email to the registered candidates.
After registration, they will have to login with their email address and password. Once logged in, they will be able to change their password.
Candidates will have to fill out their MET application form with personal, academic and contact information. Selection of preferred test centre also has to be done.
Next, the candidates will have to upload their scanned photograph and signature as per the official guidelines.
MET registration fee has to be paid through net banking/credit card/debit card. No offline payment will be accepted.
Finally, MET application form has to be submitted. A print out can be taken for future reference.

MET Eligibility Criteria

MAHE releases the official Manipal Entrance Test eligibility criteria to help candidates understand the requirements needed for BTech admissions. Before registration, they are advised to check MET eligibility and check if they are or are not qualified for the entrance exam and admission process.

General MET Eligibility Criteria

Candidates can check the general eligibility criteria of MET exam below.

Nationality: Indian candidates are eligible for MET exam. However, applications from foreign nationals, candidates with NRI status, candidates sponsored by NRI relatives, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) will also be accepted for reserved seats.
Domicile: There is no domicile eligibility.
Age Limit: MET does not have any age limit. However, other criteria have to be met.

MET Academic Eligibility Criteria

Some important academic qualifications required for MET eligibility are given below.

Candidates should have passed 10+2th qualifying (or equivalent) exam with Physics, Chemistry and English as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/any technical subject as optional.
A minimum of 50% marks should have been scored as an aggregate in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects.
The technical vocational subject should be related to Chemical/Civil/Computer/Electrical/Mechanical streams.

MET Mock Test

Manipal Academy of Higher Education releases an official MET mock test to help candidates with their preparation. The mock test will be a replica of the MET exam, which will allow candidates to understand how the examination will be held. The sample questions also offer an overview of the type of questions that candidates can expect in the MET exam. While the mock test will be similar to MET exam, the total number of questions will only be 18.

MET Slot Booking

Registered candidates will be able to access MET slot booking facility through the Online Test Booking System (OTBS). During slot booking process, preferred exam date and time can be chosen as per availability. Separate slot booking process will be open for different MET exam phases. If candidates are not able to book their slots before final date, then their exam slots will be automatically booked. Once slots are booked, it cannot be changed.

Steps to book MET exam slots

Candidates will have to follow steps given below to book their Manipal Entrance Test slots.

Go to OTBS website.
Log in with MET application form number and OTBS password (date of birth in DDMMYYYY format).
Once logged in, they can change their password.
After selecting their preferred test city, the list of available exam slots will be displayed.
The preferred exam slot has to be selected and submitted.

MET Exam Admit Card

MET 2027 admit card dates will be announced soon. Candidates who have booked their slots will be able to download their hall ticket by logging in to the OTBS portal. Through MET hall ticket, candidates can check their allotted exam centre, date, timings, guidelines and more. Once centres are allotted, they cannot be changed. For different exam phases, separate hall tickets will be released.

How to download MET admit card?

To download hall ticket, candidates can follow steps given below.

Candidates will have to log in with their application number and OTBS password.
Once logged in, they can download their hall ticket.

At their allotted MET exam centre, a print out of the admit card along with one valid ID photograph has to be shown to the invigilators for verification.

MET Result

MAHE will announce the phase-wise scores through MET result. Candidates will be able to check their obtained scores in the entrance examination through the MET result. To access result, they will have to log in to manipal.edu with their email ID and password. Separate results will be released for different MET exam phases.

After both exam phases are held, MET ranks will be released through the official rank card. In case both phases are attempted, the best score will be considered by the authorities to prepare the MET rank card. Both MET score and 12th standard qualifying exam marks will be given 50:50 weightage to prepare ranks. The obtained ranks will be considered while preparing MET merit list for admissions.

How is MET rank calculated?

A normalisation process is applied to calculate MET rank. Since the exam is conducted in multiple shifts, the difficulty level will be different for each shift. This will impact the candidates’ performance, as the level of difficulty will not be the same for all. To ensure that they do not face any unfair circumstances, a normalisation process will be adopted so that the candidates’ performance is compared on the same level across different exam shifts.

MET 2027 Cutoff

Manipal Entrance Test cutoff is prepared to provide minimum ranks for admissions into a particular course or campus. To prepare the cutoff, the authorities will consider various factors such as difficulty level, previous years’ trends, number of candidates and more. Separate cutoffs will be released for every MET counselling round. It is to be noted that meeting the MET cutoff does not guarantee admission, as other factors will also be considered.

Manipal Entrance Test Counselling

For admissions into the participating campuses, MAHE conducts online MET counselling process. Qualified and eligible candidates will have to register for counselling and provide accurate information. JEE Main qualified candidates can also register for MET counselling for admissions into approved seats. The counselling process is given below.

Registration: Candidates will have to log in at counseling.manipal.edu with their application number and counselling password.
Verify Details: Once logged in, they will have to verify their details.
Choice Filling: Candidates will have to choose their courses and colleges in order of preferences.
Fee Payment: The counselling registration fee of INR 10,000 has to be paid online, i.e., through net banking/credit card/debit card. The fee will be adjusted with the tuition fee later.
Seat Allotment: MET seat allotment result will be announced online. Allotment of seats will be done based on merit rank, preferences and seat availability.
Confirmation of Admission: Allotted candidates will have to confirm their admission by verifying their documents and paying the tuition fee before final date.

MET Admissions through JEE Main

Candidates who have a valid JEE Main CRL rank will be eligible for admission through MET admission process. However, the admission is only applicable for General category seats offered by MIT Manipal and Bengaluru campuses. JEE Main candidates should have a minimum of 75% aggregate marks taken together in Mathematics, Physics and any one of the optional subjects in the 12th standard qualifying examination.
