SMIT Online Test 2026: Application Form (OUT), Exam Dates, Eligibility, Exam Pattern, Syllabus, Result, Counselling

SMIT releases the SMIT online entrance test 2026 application form on the official website. The application form is made available online only. Candidates can fill and submit the SMIT 2026 application form to participate in the admission process. The application process consists of registration, filling in the form, uploading documents and payment of the fee. If the candidates fail to submit application form before final date, they will not be allowed to participate in entrance examination.

To complete application process, candidates have to:

1. Register with details asked. Verify their phone number.
2. Fill online application form. Pay application fee.
3. Upload scanned documents needed.

SMIT is the acronym for Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology. The varsity conducts the online remote proctored test for the admission of eligible candidates to various BTech programmes. This means the aspirants can take the exam from the comfort of their homes. The 10+2 passed/appearing candidates can apply for the test. The SMIT online test is held in English and has multiple-choice questions (MCQ). A total of 60 questions are asked from Maths, Physics, Chemistry and English. The full marks in the test is 60, where each question carries 1 mark and there is no negative scoring. The exam is held for 1 hour 30 mins duration.

Apart from SMIT online test scores, SMIT Btech admission is also done based on JEE Main and MET scores. The candidates who become eligible after the entrance test, have to appear for admission counselling and finalise their admission in Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology.

The eligibility criteria are a standard, that all the applicants should meet before filling the application form. Candidates should fulfil the conditions such as a qualifying exam, percentage, etc. Check the SMIT eligibility criteria in the table below:

Eligibility Criteria in Qualifying Examinations:

• BTech (CE, ME): Passed 10+2/equivalent with 45% marks (40% in Reserved Category) in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics.
• BTech (AI&DS, CSE, ECE, EEE, IT): Passed 10+2/equivalent with 50% marks in the subjects of Physics & Maths (Mandatory) and anyone from the following:
  
  • Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/ Biology/Chemistry/Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies/Entrepreneurship.

Qualifying Examination:

Candidates applying for UG Engineering admission should have either completed or shall be appearing in 2026 in class 12 boards.

Subject Eligibility:

• Candidates having studied Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry in +2 / Higher Secondary Board are eligible for all the BTech Programmes.

SMIT Exam Pattern Details:

• Make sure you have a good internet connection.
• This is a webcam-enabled test.
• Check webcam before test, it should be in working condition and web camera must be turned on.
• Check that webcam picture is in focus. If your picture is out-of-focus, please adjust your web camera settings.
• Ensure that web camera will capture your face from neck upwards. Your entire face must be clearly visible on web camera during exam period.
• The picture being captured must not be too dark or too light. If webcam footage captured during your exam attempt does not meet above criteria, your exam attempt may be deemed invalid, and you may lose right to take test.
• Uninstall any third-party software installed on system for webcam before starting test.
• Use latest or updated web browser.
• Shut down all Instant Messaging tools and Email programs as they can conflict with exam dashboard and exam dashboard might get deactivated.
• During exam do not use any other internet browser, it may deactivate your exam dashboard and exam will end/be cancelled.
• Before commencement of test clear all caches and cookies.
• Maximize your browser window before starting test.
• Once You are ready to take exam, click “Start Exam” button.

During Test:

• Do not resize browser during test.
• Do not press Back or Refresh Button on browser during test.
• Click “Submit” button to submit your exam.
