240 Marks in JEE Main Percentile 2026: The National Testing Agency announces the exam result in percentile. Candidates can check this page to know how the percentile calculation is done from marks. After the results are announced, students have doubts about percentile scores compared to marks. By using the JEE Main marks vs percentile converter, candidates can calculate the percentile.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) normalises raw shift scores into percentile marks to determine final JEE Main ranks. For candidates scoring 240 out of 300 marks in JEE Main, the expected percentile sits at an excellent 99.5 to 99.9, securing an All India Rank between 5,000 and 11,000.

Formula to Calculate NTA JEE Main Percentile

NTA uses a normalisation formula to calculate the JEE Main percentile. The steps used to calculate the JEE Main percentile from raw scores of the candidates are given below:

Step 1: Raw Score Calculation

The raw scores of the candidates are calculated using the marking scheme of the JEE Main 2026 exam:

  • +4 for each correct answer.
  • -1 for each wrong attempt.
  • 0 for unanswered

Step 2: Raw Marks to Percentile

The raw scores of the candidates are converted into a percentile score or NTA score in each subject. The total marks out of 300 are also converted to a percentile score using the formulas below:

Is 240 a Good Score in JEE Mains 2026?

A score of 240 marks in JEE Main 2026 yields an excellent percentile range of 99.5 to 99.9, translating to an All India Rank between 5,000 and 11,000. Because the National Testing Agency (NTA) normalises raw marks across different shifts to calculate final ranks, admissions rely strictly on this percentile-derived rank rather than the score itself. This performance easily secures eligibility for JEE Advanced and guarantees top-tier branches at premier NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs during JoSAA counselling.

JEE Main marks Expected percentile Expected ranks
240 - 280+ 99.9+ 1 - 1,200
210 - 240 99.5 - 99.9 1,200 - 6,000
