Step-by-Step Guide for JEE Mains 2027 Registration Aadhaar Re-KYC on DigiLocker

Follow these 6 steps to complete the Aadhaar re-KYC process:

JEE Mains 2027 Registration Aadhaar Re-KYC on DigiLocker

Step-by-Step Guide for JEE Mains 2027 Registration Aadhaar Re-KYC on DigiLocker

Step 1: Sign in to DigiLocker

Open the DigiLocker app on your mobile phone, or open your web browser and go to the official portal. Sign in using your registered mobile number and your 6-digit security PIN. Once you are on the home screen, tap or click on the Issued Documents section. This section shows all the government documents already linked to your profile

Step 2: Refresh the Aadhaar Document

Look through your list of issued certificates and find your Aadhaar Card. A small menu will pop up with a few options. Tap on Refresh to start the re-KYC process.

Step 3: Give Consent

A screen titled Consent will appear. This page asks for your permission to share your Aadhaar details with DigiLocker to verify your identity. Read through the points on the screen and tap the Allow button at the bottom.

Step 4: Verify Using UIDAI OTP

UIDAI will send a one-time password (OTP) via text message to the mobile phone number linked to your Aadhaar card. Type this OTP into the boxes on your screen. Make sure you enter the digits carefully before the on-screen timer runs out.

Step 5: Complete Aadhaar Re-KYC

After entering the OTP, wait a moment while the system talks to UIDAI servers. Do not close the app or press the back button. Once verified, a green checkmark will appear with the message Aadhaar e-KYC Successful. Tap Continue to finish.

Step 6: Refresh Other Documents

You will be redirected back to your Issued Documents page, where your Aadhaar card will now show as updated. If you also have other certificates saved in DigiLocker that you plan to use for JEE Main - such as your Class 10 marksheet - tap the refresh button for those documents too. This ensures that your entire account is completely up to date.

Why DigiLocker is Important for JEE Main Registration 2027

DigiLocker is a secure online service run by the Government of India that lets you store and access official digital documents. The NTA links JEE Main registration with DigiLocker for several practical reasons:

  • Instant Identity Verification: When you login with DigiLocker for JEE Main registration\, the NTA portal automatically fetches your verified personal details. You do not need to type everything manually.
  • Fewer Mistakes in Personal Data: Typing your name, date of birth, or parent's name manually often leads to typos. DigiLocker pulls this data straight from government records, which eliminates basic spelling errors.
  • Prevents Cheating and Fake Profiles: Because DigiLocker connects directly to your official government identity, it ensures that only genuine students can create an application.

Why Do You Need Aadhaar Re-KYC for JEE Main Registration?

Even if your Aadhaar is already in DigiLocker, the data saved there might be months or years old. If you recently updated your name spelling, changed your house address, or updated your phone number with UIDAI, DigiLocker will not know until you tell it to check again.

If DigiLocker holds old information while the NTA portal checks for current details, the system throws an error. Doing a "re-KYC" simply tells DigiLocker to fetch a fresh, updated copy of your Aadhaar card directly from UIDAI.

Important Tips for Students Before Registering for JEE Mains Session 1

  • Check Your Phone Number: The OTP will only go to the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar. If that SIM card is inactive or lost, visit an Aadhaar enrolment centre to update your phone number first.
  • Match Class 10 Details: Your name, father's name, and date of birth in Aadhaar must match your Class 10 school records exactly. If there is a spelling mistake in your Aadhaar, get it corrected by UIDAI before you fill out the JEE Main form.
  • Login to the JEE Portal: Once DigiLocker is updated, open the JEE Main application website, pick the DigiLocker login option, and log in. The site will now easily pull your updated details without any technical problems.
