JEE Main Bonus Marks - Will NTA award bonus marks for JEE Main this year as well?
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the JEE Main 2020 Result by January 18. One important thing to get clarified is that will NTA award bonus marks this year as well?
This question is very apt as the exam conducting authority has done the same for the JEE Main conducted last year. In the April session of JEE Main 2019, the NTA awarded up to 24 bonus marks to the aspirants.

After the announcement of JEE Main answer key last year, few questions of the two shifts were dropped due to some mistakes in them. In line with this, candidates of these shift who attempt these questions were awarded bonus marks.
As the provisional answer key of JEE Main 2020 are already announced, it is to observe that the NTA will award bonus marks to the candidates appeared in this year’s exam or not. Awarding the bonus marks implies that the certain number of questions were wrong in the question paper.

Last year, the bonus marks were awarded to candidates appeared in the JEE Main on April 8 (shift 2) and April 10 (shift 1 and 2) candidates. The candidates who appeared for in the second shift of April 8 got 24 bonus marks for six questions. Whereas, aspirants appeared in both shifts of April 10 shift have received 8 marks each for two dropped questions.
If any such situation arises, candidates may get bonus marks for the JEE Main 2020 as well. The only condition to get the bonus marks is that a candidate must have attempted those questions.
JEE Main 2020 result is scheduled to be released on January 31 but in going through the previous year trends, it is likely that the NTA will announce the result earlier by January 18. To check the result of JEE Main 2020, candidates need to visit the official website. On clicking the “JEE Main 2020 Result January Session”, candidates will need to login with their credentials. On clicking the submit button, result will be displayed on the screen.
As per the official notification released by NTA, 11,18,673 candidates registered themselves for JEE Main 2020 January session. Of these registrations, 9,21,261 for BE/BTech, 1,38,409 were for BArch, and 59,003 registered for BPlanning.

The cutoffs for BTech admissions in the institute are not available as per official sources. However, according to data present on Shiksha page the 2025 closing rank for CSE branch was 1202618. Yes, JEE Mains has been listed as an accepted entrance exam for MIT Academy of Engineering BTech admission. The institute has also listed MHT-CET as its accepted entrance exam. Thus, candidates with a JEE Mains score can apply directly without appearing for MHT-CET.

Guru Nanak Institute of Technology accepts JEE Main scores for admission in BTech programme. However, it is not compulsory. Aspirants with WBJEE or CE-AMPAI scores can also get admission in BTech provided they also meet the eligibility criteria.

With a JEE Main 2026 rank of 400,510 (≈ 70 percentile), admission to NITs, IIITs, or top GFTIs through JoSAA counseling is not possible.
