MTech in Marine Structures

  • Students must hold a Bachelor's degree with at least 60% marks. They should secure 6.5 CGPA or 60% for GEN-EWS, whereas 6.0 CGPA or 55% in case of SC/ST/PwD candidates. The mentioned CGPA/Percentage should be awarded by a recognized University/Institute. In case, the result of qualifying degree is awaited, provisional admission is permitted.
  • Students must have a valid GATE score.

C. V. Raman Global University, Bhubaneswar

BTech in Marine Engineering

  • Students must have passed Class 12 examination (intermediate) with 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects along with English as a mandatory subject.
  • Students also need to clear relevant entrance exams like JEE Main, CGET (C. V. Raman Global University Entrance Test), or OJEE.

BTech in Marine Engineering

  • Students must have passed or appeared for Class 12 or equivalent and secured 45% marks (40% for the reserved category). They must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as the main subjects.

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT)

BTech in Marine Engineering

  • Students must have passed Class board examination of the State of Kerala or any other examinations accepted as equivalent there to with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60% marks and minimum 50% for Mathematics alone.
  • Students should have passed English in Class 12 with 50% marks (No relaxation to SC/ST & OBC candidates) are eligible to apply.
  • The maximum age of the applicants must be 25 years.

 

MTech in Marine Biotechnology

  • Students must have completed B.E./B.Tech in Biotechnology with at least 60% marks from any recognized university.
  • Students who have completed M.Sc. in any branch of Life Science including Marine Biology along with a valid GAT-B Score in the examination conducted in the current year can also apply.

Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI), Pune

B Tech Marine Engineering

  • Students must have completed Class 12 with at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and at least 50% marks in English.
  • Qualifying in IMUCET as well as TMISAT is mandatory for admission.
  • Male candidates born on or after 1st September 2005 are eligible to apply for 2026 batch. In accordance with Government of India guidelines, there is a two-year age relaxation for female candidates and girls born on or after 1st September 2003 are eligible to apply for the 2026 batch.
  • Further, the institute has laid down detailed minimum physical fitness and medical standards that students have to meet to qualify for admission.

Indian Maritime University (IMU), Kolkata

BTech in Marine Engineering

  • Students must have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as mandatory subjects from a recognized board and secured at least 60% aggregate marks in PCM and 50% in English.
  • For SC/ST candidates, there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks of PCM; however, it will not apply to English Marks.
  • IMU-CET exam scores serve as the final call for admission.
  • The maximum age for male applicants belonging to the General category is 25 years, for OBC (NCL) it is 28 years, and for the SC/ST category it is 30 years.
  • Further, for female applicants in the General category, it is 27 years; for OBC (NCL) it is 30 years, and for SC/ST it is 32 years.
  • Students must be medically fit, including eyesight and hearing, as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, as amended.

 

MTech in Marine Engineering and Management

  • Students must have completed BE/B.Tech in Marine Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Naval Architecture from a recognized university with at least 55 to 60% marks.
  • IMUCET exam scores are accepted for admission to the course.

Marine Engineering Admission 2026: General Eligibility Criteria

The Marine Engineering admission eligibility can vary depending on the college offering the course and the course level. However, the basic criteria is as follows:

Marine Engg. Courses After 12th Marine Engineering Course Eligibility
Diploma in Marine Engineering after 10th Complete Class 10th with Science and Mathematics subjects with a decent score of around 50 percent.
Undergraduate (B Tech/BE Marine Engineering/B Sc Marine Engineering)
  • At the UG level, students must have successfully passed Class 12 or its equivalent with at least 60 percent in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM).
  •  They should also have secured a minimum 50 percent marks in English in Class 10 and Class 12.
  • A minimum and a maximum age limit may or may not be a requirement by some Marine Engineering institutes.

Postgraduate (M Tech in Marine Engineering/ ME Marine Engineering)
  • Students must have completed their graduation with BE/B Tech Marine Engineering from a recognized university and should have secured a minimum of 55-60% aggregate marks in their bachelor studies.
Doctorate (PhD Marine Engineering)
  • Students must have completed MTech from recognised university with minimum 55% marks.
  • Must have cleared Research Entrance Test for PhD scholars.

JEE Main Syllabus

Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are the three courses covered in the JEE Main Syllabus. Both theoretical and practical components are included in physics. Physical, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry are all types of chemistry. The subjects covered in Mathematics are from Classes 11 and 12.

MHT CET Syllabus

MHT CET exam is of 300 marks which consists of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology of 100 marks each. It gives 20% weightage to the syllabus of Class 11 whereas 80% weightage to Class 12th syllabus. Therefore, its syllabus is slightly different from JEE Main with respect to the weightage of both exams. 

GATE Syllabus

The syllabus for GATE varies across various disciplines and topics such as Verbal Ability and Numerical Ability are the common topics for all papers. Moreover, the syllabus for various specialisations is of graduation-level and candidates ability to solve reasoning and numerical questions are also tested through this examination.

IMU CET Syllabus The syllabus for IMUCET tests the knowledge of students in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English subjects, and contains the General Aptitude section. There are a total of 200 multiple-choice questions asked in the exam.
