IIT Delhi

B Tech Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology

• Students must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) board examination with a minimum of five subjects with 75% marks (The aggregate marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates must be at least 65%) or they must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 5 subjects and be within the category-wise (category as per the central list) top 20 percentile of successful candidates in the Class 12th board examination.
• Students should have appeared for the Class 12 exam for the first time in either 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
• Candidates should be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in B.E./BTech paper of JEE Main 2025.
• Admission is through JoSAA counselling based on rank obtained in JEE Advanced.

M Tech in Biomolecular and Bioprocess Engineering

• Students must hold a B.E/BTech degree in Biochemical Engineering or a related field with at least 60% marks in graduation (55% for SC/ST/PwD categories).
• A valid GATE score is required for admission. Students who are IIT graduates with a CGPA of 8 or above are exempted from the GATE exam score requirement and can directly apply for the COAP counseling.

PhD in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology

• Students must hold an MTech degree or equivalent with a GPA of 7 with a valid GATE score.
• Students with a BTech/MSc degree in a particular discipline with a GPA of 7.5 can also apply with a valid GATE score.

IIT Kharagpur

BTech (Hons) in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering

• Students must have completed Class 12 (or equivalent) with at least five subjects with 75% marks (The aggregate marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates should be at least 65%) or they must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of five subjects and be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class 12 board examination.
• Students should have appeared for the Class 12th (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

BTech in Chemical Technology (Biochemical Engineering)

• Students must have completed Class 12 with at least 55% marks with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of Mathematics/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science/ Technical Vocational subjects.
• Admission is through counseling based on the rank obtained in the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE).

MTech in Chemical Technology (Biochemical Engineering)

• Students must hold a B.Tech or B.E. degree in Biochemical Engineering with 55% marks. Alternatively, a B.Tech or B.E. degree in Biotechnology, Food Technology, Chemical Engineering,or any other relevant/allied discipline with a minimum of 55% marks is also considered.
• The GATE and CUET PG scores are accepted for admission.

Jadavpur University

B Tech Biochemical Engineering

• Students must have passed the Class 12 board examination with a minimum of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects (45% for SC/ST/PwD/OBC students).
• Students must clear the WBJEE or JEE Main exam for admission to the course.

M Tech in Biochemical Engineering

• Students must hold a BTech degree in Biochemical Engineering/Chemical Engineering/Biotechnology/Food Technology with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST).
• A valid GATE score is also required for admission.

Completion of Class 12 with at least 50 to 60% marks in the Science stream.

Bachelor's degree in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 55 to 60% marks.

Ph.D in Biochemical Engineering

Master's degree in Biochemical Engineering or a closely related field with at least 55% marks.

Qualifying scores in a university-specific entrance exam or research proposal evaluation.

JEE Main Syllabus

Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are the three courses covered in the JEE Main syllabus. Both theoretical and practical component are included in physics. Physical, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry are all types of chemistry. The subjects covered in Mathematics are from Classes 11 and 12.

GATE Syllabus

The syllabus for GATE varies across various disciplines and topics such as Verbal Ability and Numerical Ability are the common topics for all papers. Moreover, the syllabus for various specialisations is of graduation-level and candidates ability to solve reasoning and numerical questions are also tested through this examination.

KEAM Syllabus

The entrance examination consists of subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of Class 11 and 12 level. KEAM question paper carries a total of 120 objective-type questions.
