Structural Engineering admission in India is mostly based on entrance exams. Structural Engineering courses after 12th provide students with detailed knowledge of the importance of the strength and stability of built structures, ensuring they are safe and functional enough to withstand external pressures.
In addition, for M Tech in Structural Engineering, students must have completed graduation in Structural Engineering or a related field with at least 55 percent marks. Mostly, the course is offered as a specialization within Civil Engineering at the PG level. The basic eligibility requirements require students to complete Class 12 in the Science stream with at least 50 to 60% marks in PCM subjects.

Some prominent Structural Engineering entrance tests in India are GATE for MTech courses. Other tests are CEETA PG, AP PGECET, MHTCET, etc.

There are about 800+ Structural Engineering colleges in India, including IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, NIT Trichy, etc. The average Structural Engineering course fees in India range between INR 3 lakh and INR 8 lakh.

Q:   Why study Structural Engineering courses?
A:

You must go for a course in Structural Engineering as the scope of the field is wide.

  •  Environment-friendly construction practices are also gaining a lot of importance these days with structural engineers playing an important role in designing environment friendly structures that reduce environmental of the entire building process, from material selection to energy efficiency.
  • In the digitalized world that we are living in today, new technologies like Building Information Modeling (BIM) can create digital copies of structures, making it easy for architects, engineers, and contractors to communicate and supervise the design and construction processes accordingly, saving a lot of time.
