IITs

B Tech Chemical Engineering

  • Students must have passed Class 12th (or equivalent) board examination with five subjects with 75% marks (aggregate marks for PwD candidates should be at least 65%) or they must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of five subjects and be within category-wise (category as per central list) top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class 12th board examination.
  • Students should have appeared for Class 12th (or equivalent) exam for first time in either 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • Candidates should be among top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in B.E./BTech paper of JEE Main 2025.
  • Admission is through JoSAA counselling based on rank obtained in JEE Advanced.

 

M Tech in Chemical Engineering

  • Students must hold a B.E./BTech degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field with at least 60% marks in graduation (55% for SC/ST/PwD categories).
  • A valid GATE score is required for admission. Students who are IIT graduates with a CGPA of 8 or above are exempted from GATE exam score requirement and can directly apply for COAP counseling.

 

Integrated BTech + MTech in Chemical Engineering

  • Students must have completed Class 12 with a minimum of five subjects and secured 75% marks in aggregate (aggregate marks for PwD candidates should be at least 65%) or they must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of five subjects and be within category-wise (category as per central list) top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class 12th board examination.
  • Students should have appeared for Class 12 (or equivalent) examination for first time in either 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • Candidates should be among top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in B.E./BTech paper of JEE Main 2025.

PhD in Chemical Engineering

  • Students must hold a MTech or MSc(Tech) degree from a government-recognized institute/university in Chemical Engineering or allied field with a valid GATE score.
  • Interestingly, students with a 4-year bachelor's degree (B.E./BTech or BSc) can also apply given they have scored at least 75% marks in Class 12 and cleared GATE exam.

NITs

BTech in Chemical Engineering

  • Students must have passed Class 12 examination or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects and secured 75% marks.
  • No age limit for admission.
  • Admission is based on marks obtained in JEE Main exam.

 

M Tech in Chemical Engineering

  • Students must have passed a Bachelor's degree with at least 60% marks. They should secure 6.5 CGPA or 60% for GEN-EWS, whereas 6.0 CGPA or 55% in case of PwD candidates. mentioned CGPA/Percentage should be awarded by a recognized university. In case, result of qualifying degree is awaited, provisional admission is permitted.
  • Students must have a valid GATE score of year 2023 / 2024 / 2025.

 

PhD in Chemical Engineering

  • Students must have completed an MTech in Chemical/ Petroleum/ Environmental/ Metallurgical/ Biochemical Engineering or a related field with at least 60% marks.
  • Candidates passed B.Tech (with valid GATE) with 65% marks are also eligible.

Delhi Technological University

BTech in Chemical Engineering

  • Students must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English (core or elective) as a subject with 60% marks as an aggregate from any recognized board/center.
  • There is no minimum or maximum age criterion.
  • Accepted Exam Scores: JEE Main, DASA UG, JAC Delhi Counseling

BITS Pilani

B.E. in Chemical Engineering

  • Students must have completed Class 12 in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / Biology with 75% marks and they should have scored at least 60% marks in each of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology subjects.
  • Admission through counselling based on score obtained in Birla Institute of Technology and Science Aptitude Test (BITSAT). First rank students of all central & state boards in India will be given direct admission to program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT score.

 

M.E. in Chemical Engineering

  • Score at least 60% marks in bachelor’s degree and appear for entrance exams like BITS HD or GATE.

 

PhD in Chemical Engineering

  • Students must have passed M.E./M.Tech/M.Pharm/MBA or an equivalent degree with 60% marks in qualifying examination or M.Sc. or an equivalent degree with 60% marks in qualifying examination.

SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai

B Tech Chemical Engineering

  • Students who have passed Class 12 board examination or appearing in same in current academic year with at least 50 to 60% aggregate (3 subjects) in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry as major subjects in regular stream from any board within India, CBSE, ISCE, Matriculation, or others.
  • Admission is based on SRMJEEE or GATE exam scores.

 

M Tech in Chemical Engineering

  • Students must hold a B.E/BTech degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 50% marks and possess a valid SRMJEEE (PG)/GATE score.

Postgraduate (M Tech in Chemical Engineering)
  • Students must have a bachelor’s degree in pertinent field and a valid GATE score or any other exam accepted by institute/university.
  • Students must have a minimum of 55-60% aggregate marks in their UG degree.
Diploma in Chemical Engineering Students must have completed Class 10 with Mathematics and Science as mandatory subjects with at least 50% marks.
Doctoral (PhD in Chemical Engineering)

Students must have completed their post-graduation in Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 50% marks throughout course duration.

JEE Main Syllabus

JEE Main syllabus includes three subjects- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Physics consists of theory as well as practical component. Chemistry consists of Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. Mathematics consists of topics from Class 11th and 12th.

MHT CET Syllabus

MHT CET exam is of 300 marks which consists of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology of 100 marks each. It gives 20% weightage to syllabus of Class 11 whereas 80% weightage to Class 12th syllabus. Therefore, its syllabus is slightly different from JEE Main with respect to weightage of both exams. 

COMEDK UGET Syllabus

Similar to syllabus of JEE Main, COMEDK UGET consists of three sections-Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Each section consists of 60 questions carrying 1 mark each.

Some of important mark fetching areas are Calculus and 3D Geometry for Mathematics, Organic Chemistry and Electrochemistry for Chemistry and Thermodynamics and Current for Physics

BITSAT Syllabus

syllabus consists of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as well as English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning. Apart from PCM Syllabus, exam also tests general proficiency of candidates in English language as well as their ability to perceive data logically and interpret it for applying rules while solving questions.

GATE Syllabus

syllabus for GATE varies across various disciplines and topics such as Verbal Ability and Numerical Ability are common topics for all papers. Moreover, syllabus for various specialisations is of graduation-level and candidates ability to solve reasoning and numerical questions are also tested through this examination.
