
MHT CET Counselling 2026: The Maharashtra CET Cell will conduct the MHT CET 2026 counselling or MHT CET CAP after the declaration of results. The MHT CET CAP is the centralised admission process (CAP) through which candidates can get admission to the participating institutes. For this, the authorities will release a merit list. Students who appear for MHT CET 2026 will be included in a different merit list, while all India candidates applying through JEE Mains will be categorised in a different merit list. Those whose names are mentioned in the MHT CET merit list will be eligible to participate in the counselling as per their ranks.

MHT CET Merit List 2026
CET Cell will prepare and release two separate merit lists for MHT CET, based on MHT CET scores and JEE Main scores. The authorities will first release the provisional merit list and candidates will be allowed to raise objections to it within a specified duration. To raise objection in the provisional merit list, candidates can visit the facilitation centre (FC) or submit their grievances online by logging in to the website. Once this period concludes, the authorities will consider the valid objections and make the required changes. Then the final MHT CET 2026 merit list will be published at cetcell.mahacet.org. The allotment of seats in MHT CET counselling will be based on the candidates' rank in the MHT CET. Students will be able to download the MHT CET merit list from this page.

MHT CET 2026 Counselling Process
To participate in the MHT CET counselling, candidates have to register online at the counselling portal, upload scanned documents and pay the required counselling fee. Candidates can check details related to MHT CET CAP Counselling 2026 on this page and the website. There will be 4 rounds in MHT CET counselling and seat allotment process. The allotment of seats will be based on position in the MHT CET merit list 2026. Candidates who will be allotted seats have to confirm their admission online by paying the seat confirmation fees and reporting to the allotted institute. Step 1: Registration- The first step is to register on the official website and submit your personal, communication and security details. After filling in all the details, a password needs to be generated. Once the password is generated, the remaining details need to be filled in.
After entering the above details, aspirants need to register their qualification details (subject-wise and overall marks in 10th and 12th standard along with the name of the board) and examination details.
Step 2: Uploading Scanned Documents- At this step, aspirants will have to upload their scanned documents, photograph and signature of file size 4KB to 100KB and dimensions 3.5*4.5cm and 1KB to 30KB and 3.5*1.5cm respectively.
Step 3: Payment of Counselling Fees- Lastly, aspirants will be required to pay the counselling fees on an online basis as per their category.

- Reserved Category from Maharashtra State and Persons with Disability applicants from Maharashtra would be: Rs 600

Step 4: Release of Merit List- The admission committee will release the MHT CET merit list based on class 12 and CET marks in a 50:50 ratio. Candidates will also be allowed to raise objections to the merit list if they come up with any issue related to their position in the merit list.
Step 5: Choice Filling- Candidates will have to fill in their preferred college and branch (specialisation). The allotment of seats in the college will be based on their marks in the merit list.
Step 6: Seat Allotment- Candidates will be allotted seats based on their choice filled and merit position. Candidates will have to report to the allotted college and submit the admission fee to confirm the seat.
MHT CET 2026 Choice Filling
The MHT CET CAP choice filling will be conducted in online mode. Candidates who seek admission to participating colleges must select their preferred colleges and courses in order of preference. Candidates can fill in their choices online by logging in to the website, cetcell.mahacet.org. The MHT CET CAP 2026 choice filling will be held separately for each round. Since the allotment of seats will be done based on the choice-filling process, candidates are advised to fill out the option form carefully.

MHT CET counselling and seat allotment process has several steps. Once a seat is allotted to candidate, he/she has option to “Accept and Freeze” and “Accept and Float”. If he/she is satisfied with allotted seat and selects first option, participation in next round counselling is not allowed. If candidate is not satisfied with the allotted seat, he/she can select second option and participate in next round of counselling with the current seat.

At the time of registration, candidates have the option of e-scrutiny of documents (online) and the physical scrutiny at facilitation centres. Candidates who select e-scrutiny, their documents verified online, and the acknowledgement slip will be generated. The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Cell conducts the counselling in three or four rounds, depending upon the number of candidates participating in the counselling. The MHT CET CAP counselling 2025 had 4 rounds while in 2024, the counselling was conducted in 3 rounds.
There is no fee for MHT CET counselling registration. Candidates can register and participate in counselling without any fee. They need to pay the seat confirmation fees once the seat is allotted to them.

MHT CET 2026 Counselling Reservation Policy
Only the candidates belonging to Maharashtra will be eligible for the MHT CET 2026 reservation category in the counselling process. The seats available in engineering/pharmacy courses in various colleges across the state will be filled as per the reservation policy of the state government. No, there is no mock seat rounds in MHT CET counselling. The CET Cell conducts MHT CET counselling in three or four rounds. Candidates after registering for the counselling have to enter their preferred choice of college and branch in the order of preference. The allotment of seats will be made on the basis of All India Rank and choices filled by the candidate.
Candidates who have not applied or still have not appeared in MHT CET can participate in the counselling based on their JEE Main score. Those who do not have MHT CET or JEE Main score can also participate in counselling based on class 12 marks.
