UPTAC Counselling 2025: Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has conducted UPTAC special counselling rounds.

AKTU conducted the UPTAC 2025 counselling for admission to various first-year and second-year UG courses offered by all institutions affiliated to/constituent of AKTU and other state universities. Admission to various courses is based on national-level entrance exam scores like JEE Mains, CUET (UG/PG), and NATA. UPTAC counselling will be held online at uptac.admissions.nic.in.

UPTAC 2025 has five counselling rounds and two special rounds. The candidates who are eligible for UPTAC counselling must complete the UPTAC counselling 2025 registration, upload the required documents, undergo document verification, fill in their choices, check the allotted seats, submit their willingness, and pay the seat confirmation fee. BTech admissions in Uttar Pradesh are based solely on JEE Main scores. Candidates are allocated seats through the UPTAC counselling process, which is conducted at the state level.

UPTAC, or Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission counselling, is an online state-level counselling process for admission to the first year of various programs, including BTech, BArch, BBA, BMS, BCA, BDes, BPharm, BHMCT, BFAD, BFA, BVoc, MBA, MBA (Integrated), MCA, MCA (Integrated), and M Tech (Integrated), as well as the second year (lateral entry) of BTech, BPharmacy, and MCA. UPTAC 2025 Counselling Registration - Special Round

The candidates who find themselves eligible in the UPTAC counselling as per the subjects they want to take admission to, have to register for the counselling process. Note that the counselling registration opens only at the beginning of the UPTAC counselling and will not open again.

The steps for UPTAC 2025 registration are given below:

  • Go to uptac.admissions.nic.in 
  • Click on the registration link. 
  • Candidates must click 'New Candidate Registration' and agree to the instructions. 
  • Next, they must provide their JEE Main 2025 application number, name, mother's name, date of birth and gender. 
  • A password has to be created. 
  • The candidates have to fill out the required details. 
  • The scanned photograph and signature have to be uploaded as per the official specifications. 
  • The candidates will have to pay the counselling fee online through net banking/debit card/credit card.

UPTAC Counselling Seat Allotment 2025

On completion of the choice filling process according to the schedule, the automatic UPTAC 2025 seat allotment process is done based on merit, and the candidate are allotted a seat based on their preference given during choice filling. Thereafter, the seat allocation result will be posted on the website - uptac.admissions.nic.in.

Candidates can view the allotted seat from their login. After seat allocation, the candidate can choose to 'freeze' or 'float' their seat by paying the seat acceptance fee of:

  1. INR 20,000/- (General & OBC)
  2. INR 12,000/- (SC & ST)

After paying the seat acceptance fee, the seat acceptance notification will be received. It will also display the willingness of the candidate to participate in the next step. The stage-wise allotment and willingness details will be visible in the candidate's login.

UPTAC Counselling 2025 Seat Confirmation

The candidates allotted seats in UPTAC counselling 2025 will have the option to freeze or float their seat. Candidates have to practice their willingness for the allotted seats as explained below:

  1. Freeze: A candidate who chooses to "freeze" accepts the seat and does not want to participate in further rounds of seat allotment. In case of 'freeze' of the allotted seat, the candidate will not be included in the next stages of counselling for the upgradation of the seat, but the category of their allotted seat can be upgraded/changed in the next stage.
  2. Float: A candidate who chooses to "float" keeps their allocated seat but remains eligible for further rounds of counselling. Candidates who choose the "float" option are considered for upgradation.

Candidates who do not accept the seat, i.e. do not pay the seat acceptance fee, will be disqualified from counselling and will not be allowed to participate in any further stage of the counselling process.

UPTAC Counselling 2025 Choice Filling and Locking

The candidates whose documents will be verified successfully can fill choices. On completion of the verification process, eligible candidates are informed by sms/email. On receiving sms/email, candidates can fill in the option of branch and institute as per their qualification and preference. Candidates are advised to choose only those branches/institutes in which they are interested in taking admission.

The list of courses and institutes available to the candidates is displayed based on the candidates’ rank in the entrance exam. Candidates can select and arrange the choices in order of their preference. Q:   What is UPSEE? How is it different from UPTAC?
A: 

UPSEE is Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam which is no londer held. The last UPSEE exam was held in 2020. Since then, it has been replaced by the JEE Main for admission to undergraduate programs in engineering and other fields in Uttar Pradesh.

Now, UPTAC counselling is held for admission of the candidates to the first year of BTech/BArch/BBA/BMS/BCA/BDes/BPharm/BHMCT /BFAD/BFA/BVoc/MBA/MBA (Integrated)/MCA/MCA(Integrated)/M Tech (Integrated) and 2nd Year (Lateral Entry) of BTech/BPharmacy/MCA.

BTech admission are one based on JEE Main scores. BArch admission is done based on NATA scores and for other courses CURT UG / PG scores are used. The admission is granted via the centralised state level counselling called the Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling (UPTAC) conducted by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU).

Q:   What is meant by UPTAC counselling special round?
A: 

The last round of the UPTAC counselling is called the special round. Candidates who have confirmed their seats after last main round of the counselling process are not eligible for this round. Or, all such candidates who have been allotted seats and have paid seat acceptance fee but have not withdrawn in Stage 2 & 3 cannot appear in this round.

Fresh registration are held for the special round. Candidates have to register for using the link available on the official website of UPTAC for participating in UPTAC special counselling round.

Q:   How many engineering seats are offered via the UPTAC counselling?

Eligibility for UPTAC Counselling After Round 1

After round 1 of UPTAC 2025 counselling, the following candidates will become eligible for counselling rounds:

UPTAC Counselling Cutoff 2025

After every round of counselling, the AKTU releases the UPTAC counselling cutoff. UPTAC counselling cutoff 2025 is released in the form of opening and closing ranks. The exam authority releases the UPTAC cutoff separately for all the courses and categories. It is an online state-level counselling held for admission to the first year of BTech/BArch/BBA/BMS/BCA/BDes/BPharm/BHMCT /BFAD/BFA/BVoc/MBA/MBA (Integrated)/MCA/MCA(Integrated)/M Tech (Integrated) and 2nd Year (Lateral Entry) of BTech/BPharmacy/MCA. The participating colleges of the UPTAC counselling are all institutions affiliated/constituent to AKTU and other state universities.

UPTAC Counselling Process 2025

The UPTAC counselling process is done in the following stages:

Registration and uploading of documents: Candidates have to register and upload the required documents. This process will be only for the first phase and special phase. To complete the registration, candidates have to pay the registration fees.

Verification of documents and responding to queries: After that, uploaded certificates will be verified by the Central Certificate Verification Committee. Confirmation of verification through simple mobile messages (SMS/E-mail).

Choice filling: The verified candidates have to login to the UPAC portal and fill in the choices.

Seat allotment: Based on the rank of the candidates and the choices filled by them as per preference, seats are allotted and allotment result is released online on the official website.

Willingness submission and seat confirmation: Candidates have to accept the seat by paying the seat acceptance fee. Candidates can submit their willingness for the allotted seats - freeze or float.

Physical reporting at allotted institute: All candidates who freeze and confirm their seats have to physically report to all allotted institutes.

Q:   How is the UPTAC counselling merit list determined?
A: 

The UPTAC counselling merit is determined based on the JEE Main ranks of the candidates for BTech admission based. Based on the choices filled by the candidates in the counselling process, thir category and the JEE Mains ranks declared by NTA, seats will be allotted to the candidates. The UPTAC seat allocation result will be available on the official website under the respective logins of the candidates.

The list of documents to be uploaded after UPTAC counselling registration is given below:

UPTAC 2025 Counselling Eligibility

The UPTAC counselling 2025 eligibility criteria can be checked below:

Age limit: There is no age limit for admission to the courses covered in the counselling.

Nativity: Check various nativity requirements for the UPTAC counselling 2025 below:

  • This counselling is open to the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from any institution located in UP or whose parents are domicile of U.P subject to the eligibility conditions. If the candidate has passed the qualifying examination from outside UP, he/she has to upload the domicile certificate of his/her parents (Father OR Mother only) at the time of registration for online verification and to be produced in the original at the time of offline verification during physical reporting at the Institute where the seat has been allotted.
  • This counselling is also open to the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from any institution located outside UP and whose parents (both Father and mother) are not domicile of UP subject to the eligibility conditions given in this Information Brochure.

Q:   Can a foreign candidate apply for the UPTAC counselling?
A: 

Yes. As per the UPTAC counselling information borchure - under the approval of AICTE, identified institutions shall admit FN/PIO/CIWGC up to the extent sanctioned by AICTE as per the eligibility criteria and guidelines of the University. These supernumerary seats shall be exclusively meant for the FN/PIO/CIWGC students in undergraduate courses with the condition that under no circumstances a seat remained unfilled shall be allocated to candidates other than a FN/PIO/CIWGC. The candidates, opting for admission under this scheme, need not to appear in any entrance exam. The B.Arch. course does not exist for such candidates.

Q:   What is the fees of B.Tech in AKTU?
A: 

The total course fee for the BTech programme at AKTU ranges between INR 35,600 and INR 12.5 lakh. AKTU BTech admissions is offered based on JEE Main scores. However, UPSEE scores will be considered to fill the vacant seats after JEE Main Counselling is over. The counselling process of shortlisted candidates is managed and regulated by AKTU based on which the candidates are allotted seats. The seat allotment is based on the affiliated college cutoff and candidate's preference for courses and colleges. AKTU offers a four-year B.Tech programme in 40+ specialisations. It is the flagship programme of the University which is offered for a duration of four years.

Q:   Can I apply for AKTU counselling after taking my compartment exam in the same year?
A: 

Yes, you can sit for the counselling process only if you clear the compartment exam in the same year. You must clear the compartment exam and meet the minimum percentage criteria of the colleges. Candidates who have are permanent resident of UP and have cleared the JEE Main Paper 1 will be able to apply for Bachelor's of Technology admission for through the official website of Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling. Yes, you can get admission to colleges even if you appear for compartment exams. Many colleges and universities offer admission to students who have appeared for compartment exams, provided they meet the minimum eligibility criteria for the course.

Q:   When will UPTAC counselling registration start?
A: 

 The UPTAC registration 2025 started on May 27. Eligible candidates must register for UPTAC to take part in the counselling process for admission to various first-year and second-year UG courses at all institutions affiliated with or constituent to AKTU and other state universities.
