MAT Registration Process 2026: How to Apply?

MAT exam is conducted in February, May, September and December. The form filling process for every session is same. Those who have an existing login ID can use it for filling the form in multiple phases. Check below the process to fill MAT application form 2026 for December. 

Step 1: MAT Registration at AIMA website

• Visit the official website of AIMA MAT, and click on register option.
• Enter Name, Phone Number, Email ID, State/City and set a password. Confirm details and click on submit button. 
• An OTP will be sent on the registered mobile number.
• Verify phone number using the OTP to confirm registration.

Step 2: MAT Application Form Filling

• Use the credentials sent in email login into your MAT account
• Go to MAT December application form 2026
• Select MAT test mode - PBT/CBT or both
• Upload a recent passport size photo and signature. 
• Select five MBA colleges from the given list. For more than five college selection, you will have to pay extra amount.

Step 3: Pay MAT Registration Fees

•  Pay the MAT fee of INR 2300 through debit/credit card or net banking.
• Add personal details, academic details, address, etc. in the next page.
• Select MAT test cities for centre allotment
• Click the declaration check box to complete the process.

MAT Registration Fee 2026

MAT registration fee can be paid online through credit card/debit card, net banking or mobile wallet. Check the below table for MAT form fee.

MAT Registration Fee: Important Points

• Candidates can register again for the next exam phase, but in the next phase too, they will have to pay fee per session. MAT registration will not be carried forward.
• Candidate can upgrade their already opted exam mode from among CBT + PBT and CBT + CBT by paying additional fee of INR 1700.
• Candidate can add more than five management institutes for admission for an additional fee of INR 118 (Including 18%GST) per college.
• MAT registration fee is non-refundable and no request for refund will be accepted by any candidate under any circumstances.

MAT Eligibility Criteria 2026

Check below eligibility criteria prescribed by AIMA for MAT exam.

• The minimum eligibility criteria for MAT is graduation. There is no minimum marks requirement for the entrance exam, but score accepting colleges have a minimum academic requirement of 50 % marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD canddiates)
• Final year graduation students are also eligible for appearing in MAT exam. Such candidates will have to submit the passing certificate by a certain deadline for admission confirmation.
• Candidates with professional degrees equivalent to graduation such as CA/CS, are also eligible to apply for MAT exam. 
• There is no age limit for appearing in MAT. Any fresh graduate or a working professional can fill the MAT registration form.

Documents Required for MAT Registration 2026

Candidates will have to upload a recent passport size photo and signature in the following format and specifications in the MAT registration form 2026:

MAT Registration Documents: Important Instructions to Follow

• Candidates must use a recent passport size photo in colour.
• The background of the passport size photo should be preferably white.
• Face of the candidate should be clearly visible. Photo with cap, hat or headgear is not acceptable.
• The photo should not have the candidate wearing goggles or mask.
• If the candidates wears spectacles, there should be no reflection on the eyes in the photo.
• The signature should be on white paper and clearly visible.

Important Instruction for MAT Registration 2026

Given below are a few points to keep in mind regarding the MAT application form filling proces:

• Fill the MAT 2026 application form with correct data and make no error as there is no provision of form correction.
• Review all the information entered in the MAT registration form once before hitting the submit button.
• Personal information mentioned in the MAT application form will be used for further admission process, fill thefields with information mentioned in government IDs.

• Check MAT eligibility criteria before applying. Applications of candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria will be rejected.

• For multiple MAT exam sessions (in different phases), multiple forms will have to be filled. The MAT registration fee is to be paid per session. 
• However, candidates can combine 2 MAT sessions in the same examination phase for additional amount of INR 1,600.

MAT Registration 2026: Common Mistakes to Avoid

MAT application form 2026 cannot be edited once submitted. So, candidates must avoid making the following error while filling up the exam form:

• The name should be as per the date of birth certificate or Class 10 certificate.
• Select test city for PBT/CBT according to your convenience and availability, as once selected the options will be considered final.

• Check fee payment status after making the payment to ensure the MAT December registration 2026 is complete. The form will not get submitted until the fee is paid 

• Mention functional email ID, phone number as all communication by AIMA will be done through phone and email.

• Upload scanned image and signature in the AIMA MAT form as per the dimensions specified to avoid error. If the specifications are not correct, the form will be rejected.

• Applications will not be accepted after the MAT exam registration last date of any session. Those who will miss the deadline, will have to wait for next round of MAT registration.

How to Edit MAT Registration Form 2026?

MAT registration cum application form cannot be edited once it is submitted. Any change in the form is accepted until the MAT application form has been submitted. Candidates can register for MAT and keep their application form saved until the last date of MAT registration. However, candidates must not do so. They should submit the MAT December registration form 2026 at the soonest to get the preferred test city. 

Before final submission, the candidate can edit all the details in MAT registration form 2026, except Name, DOB, Email and mobile number after downloading and reviewing the registration form. 

Question: Can I change my MAT exam mode from PBT to CBT after registration?
Answer: No, there is no provision to change MAT exam mode from PBT to CBT or from CBT to PBT after you have completed the registration process. You will have to appear for the exam in the mode selected in the application form and in the test city mentioned in the already submitted form. Thus, make the selection of exam mode carefully in the MAT application form.

Question: How many times can I give MAT in a year?
Answer: MAT is held in 4 phases - February, May, September and December. There are two exams per phase which means you can attempt MAT exam about 8 times in a year.

Question: What is MAT exam application last date?
Answer: The MAT exam application last date for December 2026 session is December 14 for PBT exam and December 21 for CBT mode exam. Candidates must fill submit the form before MAT exam last date to apply. 

Question: Is it possible to change test city after MAT exam last date of registration?
Answer: It is not possible to change test city either after form submission or after MAT exam last date of registration as there is no edit window in this exam.

Question: Can I pay the fee on MAT exam last date to apply or do I need to pay before it?
Answer: Candidates need to pay the MAT exam fees as the time of filling the application form. They should not wait for MAT exam last date to apply for fee payment as they might not get the college of their choice later.
