Students’ Speak: Low JEE Main score can lead to new avenues

When it comes to having another shot at the JEE Mains in the month of May, there is no doubt that you should go for it. If you score more than your previous attempt, then it will be obviously great for you.

After preparing so well for the JEE Mains exam, it is possible to not get the score an aspirant was wishing for. If your JEE rank is below your desired expectations, I would suggest you to still fill the best colleges in the top preference list which would subsequently be followed by the other colleges wherein you have decent chances of getting admission in. And in the end, fill the colleges where you can easily get in. Who knows, if you get lucky, you could still get a better college. And, apart from the JEE Main exam, MHT-CET is always there as a nice backup option, and so is the BITSAT.

Taking a year’s drop is a decision that is entirely based upon how confident you are and whether you are ready to study the same syllabus and concepts for another year with even more determination and enthusiasm. Your relatives and friends might say it is not worth to repeat the rigorous cycle but if you are confident enough that you are willing to go through the grind all over again and can do much better the next time, I would recommend going for it.

So have some patience, as there are many counselling sessions which are conducted and you may get end up getting a good college. Also, if you really want the best colleges even at a low score, then you might have to compromise on the choice of your engineering branch which I would personally not recommend to do so. To be honest, I would advise all the candidates out there to check out the previous years’ rank wise cutoffs. Doing this would surely give you a good idea of what you could possibly expect next time.

And, for some reason, even if your May score is lower than that obtained in January, it would not make any difference as such since the best of the two scores would finally be considered. This turns out to be basically a win-win situation for all the candidates who wish to pursue engineering from a good, reputed college in 2020 itself.
