Between MAT score and MAT percentile, the latter is considered for admission in most of the MAT accepting colleges. The MAT percentile is used for first round of candidate selection. In the first round, candidate's MAT percentile and academic scores are considered basis which they are selected for GD-PI. Thus, MAT aspirants must ensure that they perform optimally in all the sections of MAT to get a good percentile.

When will MAT 2026 result be declared?

MAT 2026 result will be released session wise. There are four sessions of MAT in a year – February, May, September and December. Result for each session is released 10 – 15 days after the exam. AIMA does not release any rank or percentile list of test takers, as MAT has multiple attempts and it is not an annual exam.

Does AIMA conduct a counselling process for MBA Admission through MAT?

No. AIMA does not hold common counselling process for MBA Admission through MAT. The role of AIMA is to only conduct the MAT exam and prepare the results. There role in MBA process is only sharing the result/scorecard of candidates with the MAT participating institutes that they have selected in the MAT application form. The participating institutes prepare their own merit list and select candidates for admission basis the result shared by AIMA. The minimum eligibility criteria for shortlisting is passing marks in MAT. However, the selection is based on cut offs fixed by the institutes. The MBA institutes accepting MAT scores inform students about their shortlist status via e-mail when the admission window opens. Candidates who are expecting a call from the institutes they had selected in the MAT application form must keep a check on their email (spam section too) for the interview invitation.

I have taken two MAT exams. Which attempt's score can I use for admission?

Most of the MAT participating colleges consider the highest score among all attempts. So, out of the two attempts, you can use the session in which you scored more to apply for MBA admission. MAT 2026 result cum scorecard will be released at the exam website only. Candidates will receive email informing them availability of scorecard. To download MAT exam result 2026, candidates have to follow below given process:

How to Calculate MAT Score and Percentile?

MAT exam result 2026 and score calculation will be based candidate's performance in - Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis & Sufficiency and Intelligence & Critical Reasoning sections. Score of fifth section, i.e. Economic & Business Environment section will not be considered for MAT percentile calculation. Given below is the MAT marking scheme and score calculation process.

Every MAT question carries 1 mark for correct attempt
There is negative marking of 0.25 marks per incorrect attempt.
There is no deduction of marks for unanswered questions.

MAT has a method of reporting the Composite Score which is different from other MBA entrance exams in India. It follows the following parameters to prepare MAT result:

Scores of the four sections are reported on a scale of 0-100.
The MAT Composite Score is reported on a scale of 199 to 801.

What after MAT Result 2026?

After the declaration of MAT exam result 2026, candidates can start preparing for MBA admission. AIMA will send the scores directly to 5 colleges selected by candidate in the MAT application form 2026. Those institutes will call the students for WAT/GD/PI if they meet the minimum MAT cut off. Candidates can apply to more colleges separately.

Admission process of MAT accepting colleges usually includes Group Discussion (GD), Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). The first round of selection is based on MAT cut offs, determined by the institutes themselves. Candidates can join online platforms for soft skills and personality development training to prepare for this round.
