CLAT stands for the Common Law Admission Test. As the name suggests, it is a common exam conducted annually to select candidates for the Law Courses offered by the participating National Law Universities. They formed a Consortium to conduct the CLAT nationwide and carry out other responsibilities related to the exam.
CLAT exam 2027 will be held offline in pen-and-paper mode. The candidates will be asked to mark their answers on the OMR sheet provided by the Consortium. As per the official timeline, the CLAT 2027 exam date is December 6.
There are over 3,500 seats in the undergraduate courses offered in NLUs but the number of applicants will be over 90,000. Candidates should note that the CLAT registrations are available till October 31 at consortiumofnlus.ac.in/clat-2027. The CLAT applications started on August 3.
Candidates will get their admit card by November 25 under their CLAT account login. Earlier, the Consortium removed Vellore and Tiruvarur from CLAT 2027. | Feature | Details |
|---|---|

| Marks per Question | 1 |
| Total Marks | 120 |
| Language | English |
| Duration of Exam | 2 hours |
The candidates should note that all the questions will be passage-based.

Time Management Tips for CLAT Exam Preparation
Time management is a very crucial aspect of exam. Every candidate has same time for preparation but some of them excel in the exam while others only manage to score bare minimum marks. It is the time management of the candidate which makes all the difference. Time management has two aspects.
- Time Management during the preparation
- Time Management during the CLAT exam
Let us explore each of them
Time Management during the preparation
The candidates are advised to prepare their study plan keeping in mind their affinity and previous knowledge of the subjects. The candidates should assign the highest amount of time to the subject which they feel is difficult. For the subject in which they are comfortable, they should assign less time and practice more.
Time Management during the CLAT exam
It is the most important aspect because if the candidates cannot manage time during the exam, they won't be able to attempt the full paper and in that case, the maximum marks they can score will be reduced. One of the main reasons for wasting time in the CLAT paper is getting stuck on one question for more than the assigned time. The candidates should note that there are 120 questions and each question carries equal marks. The total time assigned is 120 minutes. So in ideal conditions, 1 minute will be available to read, understand, solve and mark the answer for 1 question. But some quant and logical reasoning questions cannot be solved in one minute and the candidates remain stuck on such questions for over five minutes.
The candidates are advised not to waste time on one question and to spend the time judiciously. The candidates can get detailed tips on Time Management for CLAT 2027.
CLAT Mock Test 2027
Mock Tests are replicas of actual question papers having the same number of questions based on the exam syllabus and pattern.
Benefits of CLAT Mock Tests
CLAT Mock Test Papers help candidates understand the exam pattern, improve their reading speed, help to practice time and stress management during the real paper and assess their CLAT preparation. It helps in understanding the sectional weightage of topics, types of questions asked in the paper, types of answer options provided in the paper and the time management required in the real paper.
How to Attempt CLAT Mock Test?
The candidates are advised to attempt the CLAT mock test paper under exam-like conditions. It means the candidates should follow time limits for the paper. They should sit for a stretch of two hours in a row to solve the CLAT mock paper. They should solve the paper dedicatedly in the assigned time without any deviation.
Free CLAT Mock Tests
Shiksha has created CLAT Mock Tests to help aspirants excel in the CLAT Exam. Candidates can practice and get ready for the upcoming exam. Check the table below to access Shiksha’s free Mocks for practice
