For BTech, MTech, MSc, and MCA courses, national-level examinations such as JEE Main,  GATE,  IIT JAM, and NIMCET are accepted. A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. JEE Main Result Cutoff Session 2 OUT Live Updates: Home state quota in JEE Main JoSAA counselling

Home State Quota is a reservation policy used in admissions through JoSAA counselling for NITs and some other institutes, where a certain percentage of seats (usually 50%) are reserved for candidates who belong to the same state as the institute.

    • If you're a resident of the state where the NIT is located (based on your state of eligibility from Class 12 board), you're eligible for the home state quota in that NIT.

    • The remaining 50% seats are reserved for students from other states (Other State Quota).

For example - Suppose you're from Bihar and you want to apply to NIT Patna. You’ll be considered under the Home State Quota, increasing your chances of admission compared to someone from, say, Maharashtra. Cutoffs under home state quota are often lower than the other state quota. It can significantly improve your chances, especially for mid- to lower-ranked NITs.

JEE Main Result 2025 Session 2 OUT Live Updates: What is the CSAB Special Round and why is it conducted?

The CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) Special Round is conducted after JoSAA counselling ends, to fill vacant seats in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Sometimes, students don’t accept their allotted seats or withdraw, which leaves many seats unfilled. CSAB offers these leftover seats to eligible JEE Main candidates through two additional rounds. It’s a second chance for those who didn’t get a seat earlier or missed JoSAA registration.

JEE Main 2025 Result Session 2 Scorecard OUT Live: Can I get a better branch in my home state NIT with a lower percentile?

Yes, you might. Since the competition is limited to students from the same state, cutoff ranks for branches like Mechanical, ECE, or Civil are often lower under the Home State Quota. So, even if your percentile isn't very high, you might still bag a decent branch in your state’s NIT compared to applying under the Other State Quota in another NIT.

JEE Main Result 2025 Session 2 OUT Live: What is the role of percentile vs rank in JEE Main for college admission?

While percentile helps you gauge your relative performance, the All India Rank (AIR) plays the deciding role in college admissions through JoSAA. A percentile is a normalised score based on the difficulty level of different shifts. However, AIR is calculated after normalisation, considering all shifts, and this rank is used to determine your eligibility for IIT Advanced and for seat allocation in NITS, IIITs, and GFTIs. So, AIR is what truly matters for counselling and branch allotment. NTA has declared the JEE Main result 2025 for session 2 on the official website. Candidates can check their results using their credentials. The JoSAA counselling registration starts from June 3 (expected).

JEE Mains 2025 Session 2 Result Cutoff OUT Live: Home state quota in JEE Main JoSAA counselling
