CUET (UG) 2024 Registration likely to open today: Aspiring Students Set to Begin Application Process

In a recent statement, UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar emphasized the potential benefits of conducting the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate programs in a hybrid mode, particularly for students residing in rural areas.

Highlighting the initiative's aim to enhance accessibility, the Chairman explained that implementing a hybrid mode would expand the availability of test centers nationwide. This move is designed to facilitate participation for candidates from rural regions, ensuring they can undertake the examination closer to their homes. By addressing geographical constraints, the hybrid approach promotes equal opportunities for all aspiring students, irrespective of their location.

Additionally, the Chairman underscored the significance of adapting to diverse testing environments, recognizing the importance of accommodating candidates' needs and circumstances.

CUET UG 2024 Registration

Enrollment for the CUET UG 2024 is about to commence shortly, coinciding with the examination period scheduled between May 15 and May 31, 2024. The Common University Entrance Test 2024 will be administered online by the National Testing Agency (NTA) during the month of May 2024. The examination for CUET UG entrance 2024 will be conducted in three slots, each with varying durations: the 1st and 2nd slots lasting 120 minutes each, and the 3rd slot extending to 180 minutes. Interested candidates can submit their applications online via the official website cuet.samarth.ac.in. CUET (UG) - 2024 serves as the gateway examination for admission to undergraduate programs across all Central Universities for the academic year 2024-25.

Notably, the examination duration is expected to be shortened, with the NTA exploring a hybrid mode incorporating both OMR sheets and computer-based testing, as confirmed by senior officials. Despite concerns raised by some students regarding score normalization potentially impacting their performance unfairly, the examination process continues to be closely monitored and adapted to ensure fairness and transparency.

Elaborating on the logistics, the Chairman revealed that, similar to previous years, the National Testing Agency (NTA) would announce test cities a week before the examination date. However, with the adoption of the hybrid mode, a greater number of centers will be available in cities, offering students more flexibility in selecting their preferred test venue. To enhance security measures, students will have the option to download admit cards a few days prior to the test, ensuring a smooth and secure examination process.

Furthermore, the UGC Chairman addressed concerns regarding exam scheduling and paper attempts. To alleviate stress and optimize the examination experience, students will now be allowed to attempt a maximum of six papers instead of ten. This adjustment aims to streamline the examination process, allowing for more efficient scheduling and reduced testing duration.

Moreover, the Chairman emphasized the importance of maintaining a moderate difficulty level in the CUET (UG), aiming to diminish students' reliance on coaching centers. By presenting reasonable challenges, the examination promotes students' intrinsic motivation and self-efficacy, fostering a sense of confidence in their abilities.

To ensure the integrity of the examination, the Chairman outlined comprehensive measures to prevent cheating, including stringent identity verification procedures, vigilant invigilation, and thorough analysis of answer patterns to detect any irregularities.
