Common University Entrance Test (CUET), conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) is a national-level test conducted for admission to Undergraduate programs offered by Central, State, Private, Deemed and Government Institutions across India. The exam is taken by more than 9 lakh candidates every year for admission to Science, Commerce or Arts courses.

The CUET exam is administered in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode in a multiple-day window. The number of shifts and exam timings depend on the number of students apply for exam. The exam is held in 13 mediums for all domain subjects and General Test.  CUET UG scores are used by accepting universities like Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Allahabad University, BBAU and others to prepare a cutoff list, merit list or admission list.

Yes, CUET UG 2026 application form has been released. NTA commenced CUET registration 2026 on January 03 at cuet.nta.nic.in. The difficulty level of the CUET exam varies between moderate and tough. Since the CUET UG exam is held for multiple subjects and slots, the difficulty level of the exam varies from subject to subject. Sometimes, the difficulty level may also vary for different slots. While for the well-prepared candidates, the difficulty level will be low, for the underprepared students, the level of difficulty will be on the higher side.  

Q:   How many questions are there in the language section of CUET UG?

CUET UG Language section will include 50 questions. Candidates must attempt all questions. There will be no optional questions.

The language section will check candidate's reading comprehension based on different types of passages. This section will also include questions from grammar. No, Mathematics is not a compulsory subject to appear for CUET UG exam. NTA conducts CUET UG exam for 13 languages, 23 domain subjects and general test. Candidates can choose any five subjects based on the course and college criteria. CUET Mathematics can be opted if the course criteria suggests.

Q:   Who can avail the scribe facility for CUET UG?
A: 

PwD candidates who are visually impaired or have disability in the upper limb or have lost hands/fingers which prevents them from operating the CUET UG computer based test will be able to avail the scribe facility.

Such candidates can take the help of scribe for reading the questions or keying the answers as per the direction of candidate. The scribe will not be allowed to explain or suggest the answer. To avail the service of scribe, PwD candidates must opt for it while filling the CUET 2026 application form.  The scribe will be provided by CUET 2026 conducting body National Testing Agency (NTA) only.

Yes, it is important for students to align the CUET UG subjects with the subjects studied in class 12th. Top central universities like Delhi University, does not accept CUET subject scores which have not been studied by student in class 12th. While selecting CUET subjects candidates must make sure that CUET subjects must closely or completely align with the subjects studied in class 12th. Failing which, candidate will be disqualified for admission despite a good score.

CUET UG total marks is 250 Marks for each subject. Candidates can choose up to five CUET subjects. Each subject paper has 50 questions which will total to 250 marks for each subject. For every correct answer, candidate will get 5 marks. The CUET total marks will be uniform for all 37 subjects. The Total CUET subjects marks can vary depending on the number of subjects chosen by candidates.

  • If three CUET subjects chosen: 750 total marks
  • If four CUET subjects chosen: 1000 total marks
  • If five CUET subjects chosen: 1250 total marks

Q:   Will CUET UG exam duration vary for each subject?
A: 

No, CUET UG exam duration will not vary for each subject. The exam duration will be unform for all CUET subjects that is 60 minutes. Candidates will be required to attempt 50 questions within the given time limit. The marking scheme of each question remains the same.

Q:   What type of questions are asked in the CUET exam?
A: 

The CUET questions are objective in nature and carries four options also known as MCQs. Candidates will have to choose the correct answer option and click on it with the help of mouse. Since CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted in a CBT mode, test-takers will be able to mark only one answer option. In case it is the correct option, students will get +5 marks and in case of wrong answer, negative marking scheme will be applied. Hence, candidates must ensure the accuracy of the answer before selecting the answer.

From CUET UG 2026 onwards, candidates can now choose for five CUET subjects. Earlier, the subject choices were six. With the rediuction in number of CUET subjects, the choices have been reduced. Candidates can opt for five subjects from 23 domain subjects of any stream irrespective of subjects studied in class 12th.

CUET UG is a national-level entrance examination for admission to courses like BA, B.Sc, BCom, BBA, BCA integrated programs and other professional courses. CUET admissions are based on CUET UG score, subject combination eligibility and university-specific eligibility criteria. Check below to know step by step CUET admission process

  1. Register for CUET UG: To appear for CUET exam, candidats must register for CUET exam online. In registration process candidates are required to provide personal details and subject preference.
  2. CUET UG Admit Card Download: Registered candidates will be issued the CUET hall ticket 2-3 days before the exam date.
  3. Appear for CUET UG exam: CUET UG exam is administered by NTA in CBT mode. The exam is held in multiple days in 2-3 shifts.
  4. CUET UG Answer Key Release: Once the exam concludes, candidates are issued the provisional answer key and response sheet. Candidates can calculate their approx.. score before declaration of results.
  5. Declaration of CUET Results: NTA releases the CUET final result after reviewing the objections received. NTA releases the final answer key and based on final key, scores are calculated.
  6. University-Wise Application Release: Candidates must visit the official website of university to apply through CUET UG scores. Candidates must create their login account and enter course and college preferences.

Q:   What special facilities are provided to PwD candidates to appear for CUET exam?
A: 

As per the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment guidelines, PwD candidates will be provided with following facilities:

  1. Scribe facility: In case the candidate has physical limitation and required a scribe for writing the exam, he/she must be certified in the format provided by CMO/Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Government Health Care Institution.
  2. Extra time: PwD candidates will get extra time of one hour whether such candidates use scribe facilities or not.
Q:   Does NTA releases the CUET mock test?
A: 

National Testing Agency is expected to release CUET UG mock test at nta.ac.in. If released, candidates can appear for CUET mock test by following steps below:

Q:   What if the question is dropped and answer key is revised in CUET UG?

If the question is dropped or the answer key is revised, NTA will give score as

  • If multiple options are correct then students who marked any correct option will get five marks.

  • If all options provided are correct then all students who gave answer will be given five marks.

  • If none of the options is correct, a question is wrong, or a question is removed then all students who attempted the removed question will get five marks.

Q:   When will the CUET final answer key be released?
A: 

National Testing Agency will release the CUET 2026 final answer key before the announcement of results. NTA releases the revised CUET answer key based on the objections received at cuet.nta.nic.in. Candidates are given opportunity to challenge the CUET UG answer key 2026 within a three-day window. The date to challenge the answer key will be notified. Only paid challenges made during the stipulated period will be considered. CUET answer key challenges without justification/evidence, and those filed on any other medium other than the prescribed link for CUET UG will not be considered. CUET UG 2026 results will be compiled based on the final answer key. Candidates will not get the outcome of the challenges received. 

Q:   When will CUET result be declared?

CUET result 2026 will be declared tentatively in first week of July 2026. Candidates who will appear for the exam can download their CUET scorecard online when released. CUET UG Counselling Process

The CUET counselling process will be conducted by the participating institutes separately. Each institute will release its merit list based on the qualifying candidates after the declaration of the result. Interested candidates will have to register and then participate in the CUET counselling process, which will be held online. In general, there are three rounds of counselling and the number of rounds may vary depending on the seat vacancy. After the seat allotment result is declared, candidates will have to accept the admission offer by reporting to the institutes and getting their documents verified. There are a few programmes where, instead of counselling, interview rounds will be conducted. NTA will inform the admission process for those programmes separately in the information brochure of CUET.

CUET 2026 Cut Off

CUET cutoff will be released separately by participating institutes. The cutoff refers to the minimum marks one has to secure to qualify for the exam. While NTA will release the qualifying cutoff, participating institutes will release separate cutoffs for each programme offered by them. The CUET cutoff marks were decided based on factors such as difficulty level of exam, the number of test-takers, and seats, among others.

Each CUET college offers the courses across Science, Humanities, Commerce, Management, Law, Engineering, and other streams. Students planning to get admission through CUET exam have to check the courses offered by their target university on their official website, NTA official website, or at Shiksha page.

Q:   How is CUET UG cut off calculated?
A: 

The CUET UG cut off is determined by CUET participating universities seperately. Parameters on the basis of which CUET UG cut off is released are:

  • Total number of candidates that appeared for the CUET UG exam
  • The number of seats offered by the participating universities through CUET UG
  • The difficulty level of the CUET exam
  • Overall performance of the test takers (pass percentage/ score range, etc.)

CUET cut off is based on the percentile of the candidate. To calculate the CUET percentile following formula is applied:

100*Number of candidates appeared in the session with a raw score is equal to or less than a candidate/ total number of candidates appeared for CUET UG.

Q:   What is a good score in CUET UG?
A: 

On analysing the CUET UG cut off for the academic year 2025-26, scoring above 700 marks can be considered a good score in CUET UG. Candidates scoring above 700 may fall in the category of 95+ percentile. Candidates can get admission to top central  universities like University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and other universities in the desired course. Given below is the range that is considered good for admission:

  • Very Good Score: 700 and above
  • Good Score: 650 and above

Score range between 400-649 is considered an average score. Admission on the basis of the average score can et into any decent college in India accepting CUET scores.

After the declaration of CUET result, the following steps should be taken:

Q:   What is the difference between city intimation slip and CUET admit card?
A: 

CUET intimation slip and admit card are important documents. CUET admit card has to be carried on the exam day. An intimation slip is released to inform candidates about the allotted city. CUET intimation slip mentions these details:

  • Exam city
  • Date of CUET UG subject exam
  • Shift of the CUET subject opted
  • Medium of the exam
