CMAT scoring process:

CMAT scores are calculate on the basis marks obtained on each question:

  • Each correct answer is allotted 4 marks
  • Each incorrect answer is allotted -1 mark
  • Each question left answered is allotted 0 mark

The all India merit list is arrived upon on the basis of CMAT total scores. In case CMAT total score of more than one candidate is same, they are given same rank. The rank of next candidate will then be extended by the number of other students getting same rank. Eg: if three students are at 20th Rank then subsequent student will be ranked as 24th.

Thereafter, CMAT percentile is calculated on the basis of their all India ranks.

The formula to calculate CMAT percentile is:

Percentile P = ( (N- Rank of the candidate)/ N) x 100

(Where P is percentile and N is total number of candidates appeared for exam)

CMAT Percentile vs Score

In CMAT 2018, three candidates scored 100 percentile, with Atul Nimish Kulkarni securing the top rank with 341 marks. He was followed by Jhalak Singhal and Maitri Chawra. They both scored 335 marks. Five candidates scored 99.99 percentile (overall) while, seven candidates scored 99.98 percentile (overall).
