TODAY, IIT Roorkee has started conducting the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) exam. The GATE 2025 exam is scheduled for February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025, in two shifts. This highly anticipated examination, which serves as a gateway for admission into prestigious postgraduate programs and various job opportunities in public sector units, has attracted a record number of applicants this year.

What to carry along with the GATE 2025 admit card?

Candidates appearing for the exam must carry their GATE 2025 admit card. To download, candidates must provide their enrollment ID and password. Candidates can carry the following items inside the GATE exam hall -

  • GATE 2025 admit card
  • Valid ID proof
  • Pen and pencil 
  • Transparent water bottle

Important GATE 2025 Exam-Day Guidelines

Aspirants appearing for GATE shift one or shift two exams 2025 must follow the instructions printed on the GATE admit card, which are as follows -

  • Candidates must carry a printed copy of the GATE admit card with proof of original valid ID, such as an Aadhar card, PAN card, Passport, Driving License, Voter ID, etc. 
  • Candidates must report to the exam centre at least 90 minutes before the commencement of the exam. 
  • Electronic devices such as calculators, pagers, mobile phones, watches, and the like are prohibited inside the exam hall. 
  • Candidates can log in and start reading the instructions 20 minutes before the start of the exam.
  • Virtual calculators will be available on the candidate's computer.
  • A scribble pad will be provided for doing rough work and calculations. 
  • Candidates can carry a pen, pencil and a transparent water bottle
  • Pwd applicants who have been granted compensatory time are allowed to leave the exam centre after 12:30 pm in the forenoon session and after 5:30 pm (in the afternoon session)

Aspirants have been preparing for months, often sacrificing their time and closely following study plans. With increased competition, candidates are keenly aware of the significance of performing well on this exam, which opens doors to higher studies at Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institutes of Management, and various research spaces. No, you cannot change the exam city centre once the admit card for GATE is released. Candidates will be able to make changes in their exam centre at the time of GATE 2025 form correction. No, the GATE 2026 admit card will not be sent via post. Candidates must download and print the hall ticket from the official website. The credentials required to download the GATE 2026 hall ticket are enrollment ID and password.
