A total of 2,916 new seats have been added across IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs for the 2025-26 academic session, enhancing opportunities for engineering aspirants.

Candidates can change their filled choice for the JoSAA counselling 2025 as many times as they want before the deadline. Once the choices are locked, candidates cannot make any changes. 

If a candidate does not lock his/ her preferences before the deadline, then the preference selected by the candidate will be locked automatically once the deadline is over.

The steps to register for JoSAA counselling 2025 are:

• Authenticate yourself using JEE Main 2025 application number, candidate name, mother’s name and date of birth.
• Verify the OTP sent on the JEE Main 2025 registered mobile number and email ID.
• Next, check the details displayed and create a password for the JoSAA candidate portal
• Now access the JoSAA candidate portal with the JEE Main 2025 application number, a password created, and OTP sent to the registered mobile number and email ID.
• Once logged in, candidates must verify their details and confirm the same to complete the JoSAA counselling registration 2025.

The last date to register for JoSAA counselling 2025 is June 12. 

A total of 44,974 male and 9404 female candidates have qualified in JEE Advanced 2025.

There are two ways to reset the password, Candidates can reset their password following the steps below -

Method -I (Reset password using reset link via registered email)

• Visit the official website and click on the JoSAA candidate portal
• Click on the reset password using the reset link via the registered email.
• Enter the roll number. If the roll number entered by the candidate matches the database, then the system will send a reset link on the registered e-mail ID. Candidates are advised to check their inbox and follow the online instructions for resetting the password. 

Method-II (Reset password using a OTP via SMS)

• Here, the candidate has to enter their roll number. If the roll number entered matches the database, then the system will send a verification code through SMS to the registered mobile number. Candidates are advised to enter the verification code, and if the verification mode matches the database, then the system will send a prompt for resetting the password. 

Here are steps to create JoSAA 2025 login -

• Candidates should initiate the process by selecting the “New Candidate Registration” link. They need to provide their JEE Main 2025 credentials for authentication.
• Next, enter the JEE Main 2025 application number, date of birth, maternal name, and the candidate’s name accurately.
• After submitting the information, verify the One-Time Password (OTP) dispatched to the email ID and phone number associated with the JEE Main 2025 registration.
• In the subsequent step, establish a new password for the JoSAA portal and proceed to log in.

Note that there is no registration fee for JoSAA 2025.

The JoSAA cutoff is the closing ranks of IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Students, with the help of the cutoff for JoSAA cutoff, can alter their choices of institutes and courses. The conducting authority will release the cutoff after every round of seat allotment results.

No. You are only allowed to fill choices once before entering the first round of counselling and that choice list is final. Candidates are given only one chance to enter their choice, edit the choices, rearrange them before the choice filling deadline. All candidates have to save and lock their choices within the prescribed deadline. No more chances to fill.edit/rearrange the choices will be provided in the subsequent rounds of JoSAA counselling. The last date to register is June 12.

JoSAA 2025 counselling choice filling last date is June 12. Note that, once the JoSAA choice filling window closes, candidates will not be allowed to edit the choice list. This means candidates will not be able to change the order of the selected choices or add any more course in or delete any course from the choice list after the deadline for choice filling.

As per the cutoffs as released by JoSSA, with a 1564 SC rank, you will not get B.Arch at NIT in Round 5. So far, the closing rank has been around 300 and less at most NITs for the SC category without home state quota. Therefore, you may have some chance in rounds 6 or 7 to get an NIT seat allocated for B.Arch but you will need home-state quota. For example, if you have a home-state quota of Himachal Pradesh, you may be assigned a seat at the NIT, Hamirpur, in Round 6. The closing rank for round 5 in this NIT is 1287 for HS quota. 

The JoSAA 2025 Seat Allotment Result for Round I will be announced on June 14 at josaa.nic.in. 

If you have accepted a seat in a certain round and would like to be considered for a seat of higher preference in any Institute, you need to choose the option of ‘Float’. Further, if you are allocated a seat of higher preference in a subsequent round of JoSAA seat allocation, your earlier accepted seat will be automatically cancelled and you will have to accept the newly allocated seat. If you are not allocated a seat of higher preference in a subsequent round, you will continue in the already accepted seat and you will also be considered for seat allocation in any Institute (based on your preference in the choice list) in the subsequent rounds if you continue with the ‘Float’ option.

• Candidates must secure a rank in JEE Main BE/BTech paper for BE/BTech programs and satisfy the performance criteria in the class XII (or equivalent) examination.
• Candidates must secure a rank in the JEE Main BArch paper for BArch programs and satisfy the performance criteria in the class XII (or equivalent) examination.
• Candidates must secure a rank in the JEE Main BPlan paper for BPlan programs and satisfy the performance criteria in the class XII (or equivalent) examination.

• Candidates must qualify in JEE Advanced 2025 for academic programs and preparatory courses at IITs.

Yes. A student who is eligible for both JAC and JoSAA counselling can register for both and participate in counselling. 

JAC counselling facilitates admissions to five institutes in Delhi: DTU, IIITD, IGDTUW, DSEU, and NSUT, based on JEE Main Rank. In this process, 85% of seats are reserved for students from the Delhi region, while the remaining 15% are allocated for students from outside Delhi.

On the other hand, JoSAA counselling is designed for admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and certain Government Funded Technical Institutes across the country, utilizing JEE Advanced Rank for IITs and JEE Main Rank for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.
