The list of test cities for SSC JHT exam is made available along with the notification. Candidates can choose the test cities while filling SSC JHT application form. Candidates can choose three test cities for the exam. The exam centres are allotted to candidates as per their preferences.
SSC JHT exam cities are allotted to candidates as per their preferences. However, the examination authority reserves the right to allot test cities to candidates. In case of unavailablity of exam centres in the chosen test city, candidates are allotted centre in the next available test city.

Candidates can bring ink pen/black ballpoint pen for filling up the Part A of Side 1, Part-B of Side I and Side 2 of the answer sheet. Besides this, candidates are not allowed to carry anything to the exam centre.

Mobile phones, pagers, etc. are not allowed inside the examination Hall. Candidates who are found to possess Mobile or Cellular Phones, Pager and other unauthorised electronic gadgets after commencement of the examination, whether in use or not, will be deemed to be using unfair means and would be liable to disciplinary action as deemed fit, including ban from future examinations conducted by SSC. Their candidate will also be cancelled for the examination.

SSC JHT Paper 1 is a Computer Based Test having multiple-choice questions. It consists of two sections- General English and General Hindi. In Paper-I questions will be designed to test the candidates understanding of the languages and literature, correct use of words, phrases and idioms and ability to write the languages correctly and precisely. The questions will be of degree level. Each section has 100 questions and the total time duration is 2 hours. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. SSC JHT Paper 2 carried descriptive questions. This paper consists of translation and essay writing questions. In translation, candidates will be asked to translate one Hindi passage to English and one English passage to Hindi language. In essay writing, candidates have to write one essay in Hindi and one in English.
