Overview

SSC JHT 2024 exam pattern is such that it is divided into two papers-1 and 2. Paper 1 is held in computer-based mode, whereas Paper 2 is held in offline mode. Paper 1 comprises objective-type multiple-choice questions. Questions in the paper are asked from two sections-General English and General Hindi. Paper 2 comprises descriptive-type questions from Translation and Essay. On the basis of the marks obtained in Paper 1 and 2, candidates will be selected for document verification. SSC JHT exam comprises two papers. Paper 1 consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions and questions are asked from two sections. On the other hand Paper 2 consists of descriptive-type questions. Before beginning with the preparation, candidates should check SSC JHT exam pattern to understand the overall structure of the exam.

SSC JHT Paper 2 carried descriptive questions. This paper consists of translation and essay writing questions. In translation, candidates will be asked to translate one Hindi passage to English and one English passage to Hindi language. In essay writing, candidates have to write one essay in Hindi and one in English. It will help to test the candidates' translation skills and their ability to write as well as comprehend the two languages correctly. The structure of SSC JHT Paper 2 is given below.

Q:   What is SSC JHT Paper 1 pattern?
A: 

SSC JHT Paper 1 is a Computer Based Test having multiple-choice questions. It consists of two sections- General English and General Hindi. In Paper-I questions will be designed to test the candidates understanding of the languages and literature, correct use of words, phrases and idioms and ability to write the languages correctly and precisely. The questions will be of degree level. Each section has 100 questions and the total time duration is 2 hours. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The structure of SSC JHT exam pattern is given below.

SSC JHT Paper 2 Exam Pattern

Paper 2 is conducted for the qualified candidates of Paper I.  The paper comprises questions from Translation and Essay. The total marks allotted to the test are 200. The exam is held for two hours.

What is Normalisation of Marks?

SSC has decided to normalize SSC JHT scores of candidates to take into account any variation in the difficulty levels of the question papers across different shifts since the exam is conducted in multiple sessions. The normalization is done based on the fundamental assumption that in multi-shift exam, the distribution of abilities of candidates is the same across all the shifts. Calculation of marks will be done up to 5 decimal places.
