Management Aptitude Test or MAT is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) for admissions to MBA/PGDM courses at 800+ B-schools in India. The exam is conducted in two modes -  offline (Paper Based Test or PBT) and online (Computer Based Test or CBT). Candidates can choose the exam mode as per their convenience and city. AIMA had introduced IBT mode exam in 2020 following COVID-19 pandemic. AIMA was the first examination agency that introducted romte proctored exam during the pandemic. It scrapped Internet Based Test or (IBT) in 2025.

MAT score is conducted in multiple phases and accepted by over 800 MBA colleges in India. Candidate can choose to appear in any exam phase as per their MBA admission plan and preparation status. They can also appear multiple times to improve their score.

MAT is one of the easiest MBA entrance exams in India. And it is a preferred choice of students for admission to private institutions as it provides the option of multiple attempts in the same academic year. Given below are the key highlights of MAT exam 2025 that candidates must know before applying for it:

MAT scorecard is released about 15-20 days after the test session. The scorecards of all sessions and modes are released together on the same day. Given below is the process to download MAT 2025 result cum scorecard. 

• Visit the official website of MAT exam: https://mat.aima.in/
• Click on 'Login for MAT'
• Enter Roll Number and Registration Number
• Click on the 'Submit' tab
• Select Exam Month
• Go to the scorecard download option
• MAT 2025 scorecard will appear on the screen
• Download it and save on desktop

Note: AIMA sends candidate's scores to those 5 institutes that they mention in the MAT application form. AIMA sends the latest score to the chosen colleges. If a candidate wishes to apply for more colleges, then they have to fill the college application forms separately. When applying separately, they can use the best score of all their MAT attempts.

MAT cut offs are determined by the institutes individually for admission to their MBA/PGDM programmes. AIMA has no role in any process related to admission through MAT. The cut offs for MAT usually remain static. Given below is the table indicating expected MAT exam cut offs 2025:

MAT has multiple exam modes but the question paper pattern is same for all. The MAT question paper has five sections and each one of them has 30 questions in MCQ format. There is no TITA questions. • MAT syllabus is same as other MBA entrance exam but the nature of questions is not. So practice MAT specific questions.
• Having the habit of reading magazines, newspapers and online blogs will be helpful in improving English comprehension and current affairs knowledge.
• Practice previous year MAT question papers, sample papers and online MAT mock tests to improve speed and accuracy as well as to develop familiarity with the test pattern.
• Regularly analyse your preparation level to know your strength and weakness in each section of the MAT syllabus.
• Target topics that carry more weightage in each section of MAT to score well. Go through previous years' MAT question papers and official sample papers to know topic wise weightage.
• Time management is the key to attempt maximum questions in limited time, so don’t waste time on tricky or tough questions.

When to Practice MAT Mock Test?

1. The ideal time to practice MAT mock test is when you've completed the syllabus. 
2. Start practicing mock tests when your MAT session is one month away
3. Practice about 10-15 mock test and analyse your performance in each one of them.
4. Do not practice MAT mock test a day before the exam. 
5. In the last week before your MAT session, attempt only one mock test to keep confidence high.
