KSET Application Form 2025
KSET 2025: The authority released the KSET 2025 notification in the form of a PDF on the official website on August 22, 2025. The KSET 2025 application form was released on September 1 and the last date to apply was September 18, 2025. The KSET 2025 application link was activated at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. Candidates could apply for KSET 2025 in online mode only. The application in any other mode was not accepted. It was advised to the candidates to read the notification of Karnataka SET carefully before proceeding with their application for the KSET 2025 examination. The last date to pay the fee was September 19, 2025.
KSET Eligibility Criteria 2025
Aspirants need to fulfill multiple KSET 2025 eligibility criteria to appear for the state eligibility test. Eligibility criteria for the Karnataka State Eligibility Test are as mentioned below:
- Should have secured a minimum of 55 per cent marks (without rounding off) for the general category and 50 per cent marks for Schedule Category (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons With Disability (PWD-VH/PH), Category I, IIA, IIB, IIIA and IIIB in master’s or equivalent exam from universities/institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi, in the subjects opted for KSET examination.
- Have appeared or will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also appear for KSET. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally. For those who clear the KSET examination, an eligibility certificate will be issued only on production of proof of having passed the Master’s program or equivalent examination securing at least 55 per cent marks (50 per cent in case of SC, ST, PWD (VH/PH), Category I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB candidates) within two years from the date of KSET examination, failing which they will be treated as disqualified.
- PhD Degree holders whose Master’s degree is completed on or before 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5 per cent marks for appearing in the KSET examination.
- Candidates shall appear for the KSET examination in the relevant subject of their post-graduation only, in case the candidate did not find the subject of his post-graduation in the list of KSET subjects, the candidate may appear in NTA UGC-NET / UGC-CSIR NET which is held twice a year.
- Aspirants other than the general category are required to mention their social status (Category I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, SC, ST, PWD (VH/PH)) in the online application form. Candidates may note that they should satisfy the eligibility conditions and they are required to submit attested copies of documents such as post-graduate degree marks cards, Xth Marks cards, category certificates, and certificates related to PWD (VH/PH) enclosed with their application. The candidates should submit the category certificates on or before the last date for submission of a hard copy of the application form and the certificate should be issued by the competent authority the issue date of such certificate should be not earlier to 1st July 2015. In case their ineligibility is detected due to an invalid certificate by the KSET agency at any stage, their candidature will be canceled and they shall be liable for legal action.
- Candidates who became eligible in the previous KSET exam are not eligible to apply again in the same subject. If any candidate is found to be eligible in the previous KSET exam and reappears for the KSET 2025 exam, the candidature of such candidate will be canceled and the previous eligibility will be withdrawn through de-notification.
- Candidates should possess a Master’s degree or any other equivalent examination from Universities / Institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi in the subject opted for the KSET examination.

KSET Eligibility 2025: Exemptions
KSET exam is the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment of Lecturers / Assistant Professors in Universities / Colleges / Institutions of Higher education (Government/Aided/Private) in the state of Karnataka. However, the official website informs that there are some exemptions to this rule:
- NET/SET/SLET exam remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/ Institutions. In this
regard, exemption from the NET/SET/SLET exam will be governed by the UGC regulations or through the amendments notified in the Gazette of India for time to time. - Candidates who have passed the UGC-NET/CSIR JRF examination before 1989 are also exempted from KSET examination.
- For SET candidates: Those who cleared the SET exam for eligibility for Assistant Professor before June 1, 2002, are exempted from appearing in KSET and can apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India. For SET exam held after June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the Universities/ Colleges situated in the state from where they cleared the exam.
