CLAT Exam 2026 saw a tremendous turnout. As per the official notification, the total turnout on CLAT Exam Day 2026 was 96.83 per cent of Undergraduate students and 92.45 per cent of Postgraduate aspirants. The clat exam was conducted on December 7, 2025. Read further to know more.

How many candidates appeared for CLAT 2026?

The Consortium of NLUs conducted the CLAT 2026 Exam on December 7, 2025. CLAT 2026 Exam was successfully conducted across 150+ CLAT Test Centres across the country. Around 75,000 candidates registered for the CLAT UG Exam, while 17,335 aspirants applied for CLAT LLM Exam 2026. The CLAT 2026 Exam was held in offline mode from 2 pm to 4 pm. More than 500+ candidates under the PwD category also appeared in the CLAT Exam 2026.

For CLAT 2026, the number of registrations saw an increase of 17 per cent more applications. A total of 92,344 candidates applied for the examination. In that, the total turnout on CLAT Exam Day 2026 was 96.83 per cent of Undergraduate students and 92.45 per cent of Postgraduate aspirants.

What was CLAT 2026 Male-Female Ration?

The overall male–female ratio stands at approximately 0.72:1. The ratio is a sign that the number of females looking forward to joining the law stream is increasing. The turnout shows that the demand for law courses are increasing in India and many students aspire to become lawyers. 

Q:   What is CLAT Exam Timing?
A:

The Consortium of NLUs conducts the CLAT Exam from 2 pm to 4 pm. The exam is held only in one slot. There are no shifts in CLAT Exam. The exam will be held in pen-and-paper mode. 

Q:   What to carry on the CLAT Exam day?
A:

Apart from the CLATAdmit Card,  candidates must carry the following documents to the exam centre:

  • Passport-sized photograph (same as the one uploaded with the application form)
  • A valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar card/ Driving Licence/ PAN Card/ Passport/ Voter ID)
  • Transparent water bottle
Q:   What are the dos and don'ts for CLAT exam day?
A:
 On CLAT exam day, candidates have to follow a number of guidelines like cooperating with the exam centre staff during identification process, etc.:

CLAT exam day dos:

  1. Reach examination centre at the reporting time mentioned on your CLAT admit card.
  2. Carry two copies of the CLAT admit card, one photo ID card, passport size photos
  3. PwD candidates should carry relevant certificates and documents. 
  4. Carry a blue/black ball point pen for signing attendance sheet 

CLAT exam day don'ts:

  1. Do not carry items such as bags, purses, pencil box, beepers, wrist watch, calculators, mobile phones, electronic devices, scanners, cameras, wireless/Bluetooth transmission or any such communication devices.
  2. Don't wear closed shoes, jewellery made of metal, jackets, clothes with pockets, mehendi on palms. Socks are allowed inside it.
  3. Don't wear caps, hoodies or jackets/shirts with pockets 
  4. Don't be late for exam. Entry gates will be closed 15 minutes before the commencement of exam.

The total number of applicants increased by 17% compared to the previous year. The participation numbers were

UG Programme (5-year integrated LL.B.) 75,009 registered candidates.

PG Programme (LL.M.) 17,335 registered candidates.

Admission in NLUs without clearing CLAT Exam

Candidates must note that while they can still get admission in participating colleges or universities based on CLAT Score. There is no way to get admission in NLUs without clearing the CLAT Exam. CLAT 2026 Score will be considered by many law colleges across the country, so you shouldn't get disheartened in case you do not clear the CLAT Exam. Except for NLU Delhi, the CLAT Exam is solely for admission to NLUs.

CLAT 2026 Seat Intake 

Q:   When CLAT Objection Window will open?
A:

Candidates must note that CLAT 2026 Objection Window is now open. Candidates must raise objection on CLAT Answer Key on or before December 12 until 5 pm. Once the objections are received, the consortium will publish the CLAT Final Answer Key. Based on that, the CLAT Result will be announced.

You should understand that once you opt to get out of the counselling process you can not go back. You will get option to either freeze your seat or choose to let it go and participate in next round. You can anytime exit the whole process too.

There is no restriction as such for the CLAT exam. Thus, one can give CLAT any number of times they want to. Candidates should not feel bad if they are not able to clear the CLAT exam in first time.

No you can not get admission to 24 participating NLUs without clearing CLAT Exam. For admission to NLU Delhi, you need to clear AILET Exam.

Yes, you can, However, the consortium will not open any objection window for the same. In case you have any problem with your result you have to contact the helpdesk directly.

The CLAT Sample Papers will be released on consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Candidates who have paid for the sample papers will be able to download and solve the same.

The CLAT Provisional Answer Key PDF was released on December 10, 2025 at 5 pm. CLAT Answer Key 2026 PDF will be released in two phases. First CLAT Provisional Answer Key and then the Final Answer Key. The CLAT 2026 Answer Key will be released on consortiumofnlus.ac.in.

BCom LLB programs at Chandigarh University. The university follows its own entrance process called

No, you do not need a CLAT 2026 rank to get a law seat at Chandigarh University. The university does
not make CLAT compulsory for admission into any of its law programs. Instead, the main requirement is
to appear for CUCET, which is the university's own entrance test. You only need 30 out of 100 marks
