SSC JE age limit varies as per the post applied by a candidate. However, it varies from 21 years to 32 years. SSC JE age limit is mentioned in the official notification of the exam. Yes, there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer in SSC JE paper 1. The quantum of negative marking in the SSC JE exam is the one fourth. It implies that for each incorrect answer, the Commission will deduct one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question. It also means that four incorrect answer can eat up the marks scored in one correct answer. On the other hand, in Paper 2 one mark is deducted for incorrect answer. I means that if a candidate have scored 3 marks in the exam and have give three incorrect answers then the he/she will secure zero marks in the paper 2. 

There is no limit on the number of attempts for the SSC JE exam. Candidates can apply for the SSC JE till they attain the maximum age limit mentioned in the official notification for their category. The Commission also provides the age relaxation to certain categories. Candidates should check the official notification to know about all such relaxations. You can appear for the exam as many times you want if you meet the SSC JE eligibility criteria.

SSC JE exam is conducted in two modes- i) Computer Based Test and ii) Conventional Mode. The details of these modes have been given below for the candidates:

Computer Based Test (CBT) Mode:

The SSC JE Paper 1 (Objective Type) exam is conducted in CBT mode. Candidates have to answer multiple choice questions using a mouse or a touch screen. 

Conventional Paper-Pen Mode: 

SSC JE Paper 2 (Convntional Type) exam is conducted in offline pen paper mode. Candidates have to write down answers on the question sheet provided. The mode of Paper 2 also depends upon the specific job profile.

To conclude, SSC JE Paper 1 is conducted in online mode (CBT) whereas Paper 2 can be either in CBT or conventional paper-pen mode depending on the specific post/subject.

Yes, it is mandatory to appear for both paper 1 and 2 of SSC JE exam. Both the papers are compulsary for the SSC JE exam as the Paper 1 is conducted to shortlist the candidates for mains exam and is qualifying in nature. On the other hand, the paper 2 (mains) exam is conducted to shortlist candidates for the  Document verification.

The final cut off released on the basis of the marks obtained in the paper 2 exam and the document verfication. The candidates securing the marks equal to or more than the cut off marks is considered qualified for the SSC JE exam and gets recruited as per the preferences made by the candidates.

The shotlisted candidates were called for the document verification (DV) by the SSC. The candidates selected after the document verification were selected as Junior Engineers in the various departments under the Government of India. 

For the General Engineering section in SSC JE Paper 2, topics prepared for Paper 1 are usually enough. The Staff Selection Commission also prescribes the same topics for the General Engineering section of both papers. However, candidates must keep in mind that in the General Engineering section of Paper 2, 100 objective-based questions will be asked in the examination from the specific discipline chosen by candidates.

According to the 7th Central Pay Commission, the SSC JE salary under Pay Level 6 falls within a pay scale of INR 35,400 to INR 112,400. After deductions, in-hand salary ranges from INR 42,000 to 50,000.
