UPPSC PCS 2025 Recruitment - Vacancy, Eligibility, Process & Result

The Commission carry out the UPPSC PCS recruitment every year for the elite services of the state. There are various decision-making positions in the State Bueracratic machinery which are recruited through the UPPSC PCS exam. Various components of the UPPSC PCS 2025 recruitment are explained below:

The above three are the most important components of UPPSC recruitment. Let us see each of them. 

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission released the UPPSC 2025 notification on February 20, 2025. The Commission mentioned all the important information about the UPPSC exam in the notification. The Commission notified the number of vacancies, eligibility, exam pattern and the rules that will govern the exam. The UPPSC notification is the official document released by a Constitutional body which can be challenged in the Court of Law for any inconsistency with the existing laws. The Commission did not specify the syllabus of the newly added General Studies question papers. 

The Commission activated the UPPSC apply online link with the release of an official notification. The candidates were required to fill out the UPPSC 2025 applications online only. The Commission provided one month to fill out the UPPSC application. The candidates must fill out the application in time and submit the UPPSC application fee as prescribed in the official notification. The candidates must read the official notification to get all the eligibility conditions.

The Commission mentioned all the components of the UPPSC eligibility 2025 in the official notification. The candidates need to read and understand the eligibility criteria defined for each post. The commission outlines the eligibility criteria in a very unambiguous form. The candidates need to understand the eligibility criteria and only if they satisfy all the criteria, they should fill out the UPPSC Application form. UPPSC did not change any of the eligibility conditions in the latest notification.

The Commission mentioned the tentative vacancies in the official notification. The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission will mention the actual number of UPPSC vacancies 2025 in the prelims result notice. 

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission increased the number of UPPSC 2024 vacancies from 220 to 947 in the prelims result notice. This number of vacancies is one of the lowest numbers in recent times. The Commission did not mention the post-wise UPPSC vacancies in the official notification. The UPPCS vacancies play a motivational role in the UPPSC preparation. The number of vacancies is always mentioned in the UPPSC notification but they are tentative. The actual number of vacancies is written in the UPPSC main exam form sent to the qualified candidates.

The UPPSC PCS exam is conducted based on the pattern mentioned in the UPPSC notification. The UPPSC PCS exam is a three-stage selection process comprising the following.

• Prelims
• Main
• Viva-Voce (Interview)

UPPSC Prelims 2025 Exam Pattern

The Commission is expected to conduct the UPPSC PCS prelims exam in March across the state. The candidates need to check the UPPSC PCS Prelims exam pattern to score better in the exam. 

The Commission changed the UPPSC main exam pattern by removing the optional subject from the main exam.

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission notified the UPPSC syllabus in the official notification. The Commission changed the syllabus last year and conducted the exam based on the new syllabus. The candidates can see the previous year question papers to know the extent of UPPSC main syllabus. The syllabus for the UPPSC exam is like the UPSC IAS exam syllabus. The number of topics is common but the real difference is in the orientation of the UPPSC question papers. The UPPSC question papers follow the traditional trend and ask more questions from the facts and fewer questions from the analysis part. UPPSC PCS Prelims Syllabus

The candidates should note that the prelims exam is a filtering exam and most of the candidates are filtered out at the prelims stage itself. The candidates are required to prepare all the topics mentioned in the UPPSC syllabus so that they can score better in the prelims exam. 

Current events of national and international importance

On Current Events of National and International Importance, candidates will be expected to know about them.

History of India & Indian National Movement

In History, emphasis should be on broad understanding social, economic and political aspects of Indian History. In the Indian National Movement, the candidates are expected to have a synoptic view of nature and character of the freedom movement, growth of nationalism and attainment of Independence.

India and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World

In World Geography only general understanding of the subject will be expected.
Questions on the Geography of India will relate to Physical, Social & Economic Geography of India.

Indian Polity and Governance

Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.:- In Indian Polity, Economic and Culture, questions will test knowledge of country’s political system including Panchayati Raj and Community Development, broad features of Economic policy in India and Indian Culture.

Economic and Social Development

Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.:- The candidates will be tested regarding problems and relationships between Population, Environment and Urbanisation.

General Science

Questions on General Science will cover general appreciation and understanding of Science, including matters of everyday observation and experience, as may be expected of a well-educated person, who has not made a special study of any scientific discipline.

General Issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change that do not require subject specialisation. General awareness of the subject is expected from candidates.
