How important is XAT cut off for selection to XLRI's PI round?

XAT cut off is the most important factor in selection of candidates for XLRI Jamshedpur’s Personal Interview or PI round. Those who do not meet the cut off are not even taken into consideration for PI shortlisting. The two main parameters upon which candidates are short listed for the PI round are academic scores (class 10,12 and graduation) and XAT cut off. Aspirants must note that they need to score as much or above the XAT cut off and should have a consistent academic record of high score to have greater chances of getting selected. It is not necessary that they will be called for the PI round if their XAT score matches the cut off. If any candidate with the same score has a better academic record, he/she will be selected over the other.

What is the XAT score calculation process?

XAT score calculation process is simple as the marking scheme is pretty straightforward. The total marks of XAT 2025 is 95. The test has 95 questions each carry 1 mark. Section wie distribution is: VALR: 26 marks DM: 21 marks QADI: 28 marks GK: 20 marks However, since GK marks are not to be included in XAT score and percentile calculation, the total marks have to be calculated from VALR, DM and QADI sections. So, for every correct option, candidate can give themselve 1 mark and for every incorrect option they need to subtract 0.25 marks. Further, for 8 consecutive unanswered questions, they need to subtract 0.10 marks. The final number arrived at will be XAT raw score.

What is the usual XLRI waitlist movement like?

The XLRI waitlist movement is usually high for Delhi campus between 350 to 600 spots. For Jamshedpur the movement is low between 100 to 180 for BM and 130 to 230 for HRM.

Is there any process to apply for multiple XAT accepting colleges through one form?

There is no process of applying for multiple XAT accepting colleges through one form because there is no common counselling for XAT. Candidates have to apply to the colleges of their choice individually. They must keep in mind the application last date so they don't miss out on it. Candidates planning to seek admission to an MBA college other than XLRI must check its eligibility criteria as the minimum score requirement of AICTE approved colleges is 50 percent (45 percent for Reserved categories). But having 50 per cent and above score is not a guarantee for getting selected for admission. You will need to clear the admission round which is based on XAT cut off percentile. If you do not meet the XAT cut off percentile you will not be selected for XAT personal interview round, which is the main parameter for MBA admission in XLRI.

XLRI Shortlist and Selection Process

XLRI Jamshedpur MBA admission is based on certain parameters. The admission committee selects candidates for admission to its MBA/PGDM programmes on the basis of XAT score and Personal Interview (PI). Candidates who meet the XAT cut off for XLRI, are required to fill an online form at the institute website. The institute then shortlists the applicants for PI round. The XLRI shortlisting criteria includes academic scores such as Class 10/Class12 and Graduation marks.

Timeline of XLRI Jamshedpur Admission through XAT

Process of XLRI admission begins with XAT registration. Candidates applying for XAT 2026 have to select XLRI in the form.
For selecting XLRI in the XAT application form 2026, candidates will have to pay INR 200 additionally.
Candidates are selected for XLRI admission round on the basis of XAT score
XLRI PI round is conducted in February and March at Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Jamshedpur.
For 2026 admission, Essay Writing will be conducted along with the PI.
After the personality assessment round, candidates are shortlisted for admission.
The offer of admission is sent to candidates by the end of May.
In the final phase of selection, candidate's academic and work profile are also taken into consideration.
Other XAT accepting colleges too follow the same selection process, i.e. Personal Interview. Many colleges conduct Writing Ability Test or Group Discussion as well.

XAT Counselling 2026

XLRI selection process 2026 includes Analytical Essay Writing and a Personal Interview (PI). Candidates are shortlisted for the selection process based on their XAT scores. The criteria to shortist canddidates for MBA-HRM and MBA-BM programmes will be XAT score and academic record. Personal interviews are held in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jamshedpur and Bangalore.
