BTech in Mechanical Engineering admission is primarily based on both merit and entrance test. This course is a 4 year UG degree. The general eligibility criteria is to pass Class 12 in the Science background with at least 50 - 60% marks in in PCM.

IITs

  • Students must have passed Class 12 from any recognized board with at least 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.
  • Students should be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in B.E./BTech paper of JEE Main.
  • Admission is through JoSAA counseling based on the rank obtained in JEE Advanced.
  • Students should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. Five years of age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates, that is, they should have been born on or after October 1, 1995.

NITs

  • Students must have passed the Class 12 examination or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subjects.
  • A minimum of 75% marks in the Class 12 board examination is required (65% for SC/ST category students).
  • Students must have a valid JEE Main score. Admission to the BTech Mechanical Engg. course is based on the All India Rank (AIR) secured in JEE Main.
  • There is no specific age limit for appearing in JEE Main; but, students must have completed their Class 12 within the last 3 years.

Delhi Technological University

  • Students must have passed their Class 12 board examination with at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) subjects. It is also important to pass in English.
  • A valid JEE Main score is also mandatory for admission at DTU. The admission takes place via the JAC Delhi Counselling process, based on the ranks obtained in the JEE Main exam.
  • Further, foreign nationals must register for the DASA UG Counseling for admission.

BITS Pilani

  • Students must have completed their Class 12 board exam with a minimum of five subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, one language, and any additional subject beyond these four, from a recognized Central or State board.
  • Students must secure an aggregate of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and at least 60% marks in each of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics individually.
  • The B Tech Mechanical Engg admission to BITS Pilani is entrance-based for which a valid score in BITSAT is required.

SRM Institute of Science and Technology

  • Students who have passed the Class 12 board examination or appearing in the same in the current academic year with at least 60% aggregate (3 subjects) in Physics (mandatory), Mathematics (mandatory) and at least one of Chemistry / Engineering Graphics / Biotechnology/ Biology as major subjects in regular stream from any board within India, CBSE, ISCE, Matriculation, IB or NIOS.
  • Accepted Entrance Exams: SRMJEEE and JEE Main.

Exam Syllabus Details

JEE Main Syllabus

The JEE Main syllabus revolves around three core subjects from Class 11 and Class 12: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each subject will have two sections, sections A and B.

Section A will have multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain numerical value questions. In Section B, students have to attempt any five questions out of 10, and there is no negative marking for Section B.

MHT CET Syllabus

The MHT CET exam is of 300 marks, which consists of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology of 100 marks each. It gives 20% weightage to the syllabus of Class 11, whereas 80% weightage to the Class 12 syllabus.

There is no negative marking in the exam, but the difficulty level of the questions is said to be similar to JEE Main.

AP EAMCET Syllabus

The AP EAMCET syllabus includes Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with the exam consisting of 160 multiple-choice questions.

There will be 40 questions from Physics, 40 from Chemistry, and 80 from Mathematics with 1 mark being awarded for each correct answer and no negative marking.

KCET Syllabus

The KCET exam will test the students' knowledge of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.

Each question in the exam will carry one mark with four options, out of which only one answer will be correct. There will be no negative marking in the exam.

COMEDK UGET Syllabus

Similar to the syllabus of JEE Main, COMEDK UGET consists of three sections- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each section consists of 60 questions carrying 1 mark each.

Some of the important mark-fetching areas are Calculus and 3D Geometry for Mathematics, Organic Chemistry and Electrochemistry for Chemistry and Thermodynamics and Current for Physics.

BITSAT Syllabus

The BITSAT syllabus consists of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as well as English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning. Apart from the PCM syllabus, the exam also tests the general proficiency of students in English language and their ability to perceive data logically and interpret it for applying rules while solving questions.
