VITEEE Exam Pattern 2027: Students appearing for the VITEEE can check the VIT University Exam Pattern. The paper pattern comprises details regarding question paper structure, marking scheme, duration of the VIT entrance exam, and other important details. 

VIT University will upload VITEEE 2027 exam pattern on its official website - viteee.vit.ac.in. Students who will participate in VITEEE registration must go through exam pattern. For 2026 session, the authorities revised the paper pattern, implementing negative marking for the first time. 

As per official update, VITEEE total mark is 500 with a total time duration of 2.5 hours. Overall, VIT exam question paper comprises 125 questions from Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Aptitude and English. Considering VIT 2027 marking scheme, 4 marks are reserved for correct answer and -1 mark for incorrect answer. Read below to know more.

The VITEEE question paper comprises a total of 500 questions that are conducted online. Students are given a time-bandwidth of 2.5 hours to complete solving questions. Overall, VIT exam, evaluates student's performance and analytical skills based on how accurately they answer the questions asked in VITEEE. In addition, students must be aware of VIT exam syllabus to secure a good rank in the exam. VITEEE Exam Pattern 2027 will be made available along with information brochure. Students appearing for the exam this year, must know few things beforehand about the entrance exam -

  • VIT Exam 2027 is a university-level entrance exam
  • The university follows a unique five-category ranking system to shortlist students for VIT campuses in India
  • The university does not accept any other entrance test scores, such as JEE Mains, COMEDK, BITSAT, etc. 
  • Also, there is no resevation quota to get admission to VIT. 

VITEEE 2027 Marking Scheme: Total Marks and Duration

The authorities have implemented negative marking and revised the VITEEE exam pattern 2027. Check details below -

  • -1 mark will now be deducted for an incorrect response.
  • 4 marks will be given for each correct answer.
  • There is no partial marking in VIT Entrance Exam
  • Each question will have four options, out of which one will be correct
  • Students will have to attempt 125 questions in 2.5 hours 

NOTE: To understand marking scheme more closely, the institute has released VITEEE BTech mock test, so that students can be familiar with paper pattern and question type asked in VIT 2027 exam. With negative marking introduced, candidates are advised to pay special attention to time management and build accuracy to attempt questions.

VIT Entrance Exam sections and Important topics

The VIT 2027 BTech entrance exam is held online only. VITEEE exam question paper is divided into five sections: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude. Questions will be asked in English language with four options, out of which only one will be the correct answer. VITEEE 2027 is divided into two types of exams - MPCEA and BPCEA. The candidates will have to attempt their preferred paper as per the subjects they have studied or the course they are applying for.

  • MPCEA - Candidates appearing in MPCEA (Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry/ English / Aptitude) in VITEEE are eligible for all the B.Tech. Degree programmes
  • BPCEA - Candidates appearing in BPCEA in VITEEE (Biology/Physics/Chemistry/ English/ Aptitude) are eligible only for B.Tech. Bio-stream Degree programmes

VITEEE 2027 Important Topics and Chapters

Questions that are asked in VIT entrance exam are mostly from class 11th and 12th syllabus. However, the question paper have maximum weightage from class 12th syllabus. Students can check important topics and their weightage below-

Physics Electrostatics and current electricity (10 to 12%), Magnetism and EMI (10-11%), Ray optics and wave optics (7 to 8%). Other important chapters: thermodynamics, laws of motion, circular motion, etc.
Chemistry Coordination compounds (10%), electrochemistry (9%), chemical kinetics (9%), atomic structure (9%), chemical bonding (8%), thermodynamics (8%). Other topics - biomolecules and polymers, p and d block elements, etc. 
Maths Vector algebra (11%), matrices and determinants (10%), probability (10%), calculus (17%), complex numbers (7%). Other important topics: 3D geometry, trigonometry, sequence and series, etc. 
English and Aptitude Data interpretation, number series, coding and decoding, logical reasoning, vocabulary, basic grammar, reading comprehension, etc.

Vellore Institute of Technology will activate official mock test for students to understand exam pattern and marking scheme. Candidates are check VITEEE most repeated questions in physics, chemistry, and mathematics to practice. Compared to other BTech engineering exams, like JEE Main, the VITEEE difficulty level is mostly on moderate level. However, with negative marking introduced this year and time-constraints, the question solving mainly depends on accuracy. As per exam pattern, candidates need to solve 125 questions in 150 minutes.
