Candidates need at least 8 to 10 months for RBI Grade B preparation. It also depend on how much time candidates can devote to the preparation. Candidates need to know their strengths and weaknesses. They should go through the topics given in the syllabus.

 

 

 

RBI Grade B exam is conducted in three phases I, II, & III. Phase I is based on General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning. In Phase 2, there are three papers: Economic and Social Issues, English, and Finance & Management. The final selection of the candidates is based on an interview. Phases I and II carriers 200 and 300 marks, respectively. The interview carries 75 marks. The duration for Phase 1 is 120 minutes. Phase 2 has a different time duration: Paper I & III are conducted for 120 minutes, and Paper III for 90 minutes.

RBI Grade B exam comprises both objective and subjective type questions. The prelims exam carries objective-type questions whereas the Mains exam carries both objective-type and descriptive-type questions. The prelims exam carries questions from General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning. The Mains exam carries questions from Paper-I: Economic and Social Issues, Paper-II: English (Writing Skills) and Paper-III: Finance and Management. The standard of questions asked in RBI Grade B exam is of graduation level. The total marks allotted to the Phase 1 exam are 200. The Phase 2 exam carries 300 marks. The interview carries 75 marks. Candidates need to be thorough with the exam pattern inorder to clear the exam.

As per the revised exam pattern, candidates need to appear for the Psychometric Test in the RBI Grade B exam before appearing in the interview. There are no marks for this test. The performance of candidates in the psychometric test is not counted for the final merit list. It is only conducted to test the psychological knowledge of candidates. The psychometric test basically measure individuals' mental capabilities and behaviour style. The test assess a cadidate's ability to perform the assigned job role. The difficulty level of the Phase 2 exam is easy to moderate. In 2022, the descriptive paper was easy while the objective paper was moderate. Questions in the subjective paper were asked from LTRO, resistance to change and how to avoid, India's role in 2008 financial crisis, blockerchain disrupt banking, what are the barriers to interpersonal communication and how to overcome it,  managers' role in encouraging ethical behaviour in an organisation. The objective paper carried around four to five questions on RBI notification Legal Entity Identifier (LEI), Payments Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF). In the Management part, there were application-based questions. There were questions on five model personalities, motivation. In Finance, questions were asked from CSIR, defination of small industries, etc. The questions asked in Economics and Social Issues were easy. 

The overall difficulty level of RBI Grade B Phase 1 2024 exam was moderate. The difficulty level is given below.

The difficulty level of RBI Grade B Phase 1 exam is usually moderate to difficult. In 2022, the difficulty level of the English section was easy whereas the Quant section was calculative. Current Affairs questions were asked from the recent events that took place in May and April 2022. In General Awareness, there were questions on Budget. Static GK questions were very less. The Reasoning section was difficult and time-consuming. In Quant, questions were asked from Compound Interest and Simple Interest, Quadratic Equation. Reasoning questions were asked from Seating Arrangement, Paragraph Based questions, Statement Based questions. There were two Reading Comprehension in English section. 

RBI Grade B Mains cut off is calculated to select candidates for the interview. It is the aggregate cut off marks in the Paper 1, 2 and 3 taken together in the descriptive and objective tests and is calculated out of 300 marks. The cut off for the Mains exam is released after the completion of the recruitment process.

RBI Grade B prelims cut off is decided to select candidates for the Mains exam. The cut off marks for this stage are calculated out of 200 marks. The cut off marks are decided after normalisation since the exam is conducted in multiple shifts. The cut off marks obtained in this stage are not counted for the final merit list.

Selected candidates will get starting basic pay of INR 55,200 per month in the pay scale of INR 55,200-2850 (9)-80,850-EB-2850 (2) - 86,550-3300 (4)-99,750 (16 years). The initial monthly gross emoluments are INR 1,08,404. The basic pay of a Grade B Officer in RBI is INR 55,200 per month. Candidates will also receive benefits such as Dearness Allowance, Local Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Family Allowance, and Grade Allowance.

RBI Grade B salary structure is decided including several allowances, perks and benefits. The gross salary is INR 1,08,404 incluiding allowances, perks and benefits. • For candidates having high academic educational qualifications, RBI at its own discretion considers granting up to four advance increments
• The bank, at its own discretion, shall consider requests for higher emoluments because of higher qualification/special experience at the interview stage only

RBI Grade B 2025 notification was released on September 10, 2025 by RBI. The short notification was released on September 8, 2025. The notification was released in PDF form and comprises the important details related to the exam. Candidates must read the notification before applying for the exam.

RBI Grade B exam is conducted every year. It is held to select candidates for post of Grade B Officers. Selection process comprises phase 1 exam, phase 2 exam and interview. Marks obtained in phase 1 exam are not counted for final merit list. Final selection is done based on phase 2 exam and interview.

RBI Grade B application form 2025 was released online on Septenber 10 2025. The last date to fill the application form us September 30, 2025. Candidates need to submit separate applications for different posts. The application fee can be paid online only, which is INR 850 for General/OBC and INR 100 for SC/ST/PwBD.

RBI Grade B Phase 2 exam is conducted for the shortlisted candidates of the Phase 1 exam. The Phase 2 comprises both objective and descriptive tests. Candidates must prepare well for the exam. Selection is done as per vacancies.

RBI Grade B Phase 2 marks are counted for the final merit list. The Phase 2 exam carries three papers. The total marks allotted to the test are 300. Candidates need to secure the qualifying marks in this paper in order to qualify the exam.

Candidates joining to the post of RBI Grade B Officer are promoted to Manager, Assistant General Manager, Deputy General Manager, General Manager, Chief General Manager, Executive Director and Deputy Governor. They are on probation for two years. During probation, candidates are imparted training related to the various bank processes.

RBI Grade B exam is conducted online only for General post. The Paper 1 of RBI Grade B exam is conducted online and carries questions from General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning. The Phase 2 of RBI Grade B exam is conducted online. In Paper 1 of Phase 2 exam, candidates need to answer the questions in the descriptive paper with the help of the keyboard. In Paper 2 and 3 of Phase 2 exam, candidates need to type the descriptive answers with the help of the keyboard. Candidates opting to type the answers in Hindi in the descriptive test can do so with the help of either Inscript or Remington (GAIL) keyboards layout. RBI Grade B exam for DEPR and DSIM is conducted online and offline.

The scores of RBI Grade B are calculated in the following method: The number of questions answered correctly by a candidate in each objective test is considered for arriving at the corrected score after applying the penalty for wrong answers The corrected scores so obtained by a candidate are made equivalent to take care of the minor difference in difficulty level, if any, in each of the objective tests held in different sessions to arrive at the equated scores obtained by candidates on any test are equated to the base form by considering the distribution of scores of all the forms Test-wise scores and scores on total are reported with decimal points up to two digits.

RBI Grade B result is declared online separately for prelims, Mains and final selection. The result is made available in PDF form. The scorecard is released after the declaration of the result. Candidates need to enter the required credentials to download the scorecard. The hard copy of the result is not sent to candidates by post. The Phase I marks of candidates are not considered for RBI Grade B final selection for General Post. The Phase 1 exam serves as screening test. Only the marks obtained in the phase 2 and interview are considered for the final merit list. Candidates qualifying the Mains exam and interview are selected for appointment to the post of RBI Grade B Officers. Phase-I exam for General post comprise questions from General Awareness, Reasoning, English Language, and Quantitative Aptitude. The total marks allotted to the test are 200. The Phase 2 exam comprises three papers. Total marks allotted to Phase-II exam for General post are 300 marks. The interview carries 75 marks.

The hard copy of RBI Grade B scorecard is not sent to candidates by post. Candidates need to download it online only. To download the scorecard, candidates need to enter the required credentials. RBI Grade B scorecard carries the section-wise and overall marks obtained in the exam.
